Mischa Barton Hospitalized For Mental Health Evaluation: Irrational Behavior Prompts Call To Police

Mischa Barton has been hospitalized after eagle-eyed neighbors notices the actress was acting in a highly irrational manner. Mischa’s actions were worrisome enough for friends to contact the police to get help TMZ reports.

Insiders revealed that Mischa was found “hanging over her backyard fence” incoherently talking about her mother. The source stated that Mischa was muttering something about her mother Nuala Barton being a witch.

In addition to speaking about Nuala, the former ‘The O.C.’ cast member also referred to Ziggy Stardust and the end of the world. The source went on to say that Mischa fell off the fence, stating “Oh my God, it’s over! I feel it, and its angry!”

First responders were called to Micha’s West Hollywood home where the actress was found wearing only a dress shirt and a tie. Sources revealed that Mischa Barton was voluntarily taken to the hospital and it is believed she will undergo an evaluation of her mental state.

This is not the first-time Micha Barton undergo psychiatric evaluation. On July 15, 2009, the actress was admitted for an involuntary hold to Los Angeles Cedar Medical Center. When Mischa was released she returned to work on the television show ‘The Beautiful Life.’ In 2009 it was believed that Mischa was going through financial difficulties and turned to drugs and alcohol to help her cope.

Brushes with the law are nothing new for Mischa Barton. In December 2007, she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving without a valid license and possession of marijuana.
Mischa was eventually charged with two misdemeanors on the driving without a license and driving under the influence charges.

In addition to her role as Marissa Cooper on ‘The O.C.’, most recently Mischa has appeared on ‘Dancing with the Stars’ season 22, and had a one episode part as Olivia in ‘Recovery Road.’ Mischa began her acting career when she appeared as Lily Montgomery on ‘All My Children’ in 1995 for one episode.

Mischa Barton’s acting resume also includes roles in the Academy-Award nominated film “The Sixth Sense” opposite Haley Joel Osment and Bruce Willis. Mischa portrayed Kyra Collins, a dead girl who helps a young Cole Sear reveal the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death.

TMZ reached out to Mischa Barton’s representatives but as of this writing there was no update regarding the current state of Mischa’s health.
