NCIS: LA begins tonight with the LAPD in the middle of a gun fight, unaware of who they are shooting at. Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) gets a call and tells the man to get to the spot and he is on his way.

G. Callen (Chris O’Donnell) is having a quiet romantic time with Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly), she promises she isn’t a threat nor there to hurt him. She tells him there is no pressure, but when he is ready to fully trust her, she will be there; all of her.

Callen stops her before she leaves, but are interrupted when his phone rings and it is Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt); when he doesn’t answer there is a knock at his front door. He opens the door after Anna hides. She tells him TMI and hands him a folder, needing him immediately on a plane to a prison in Arizona.

Hetty says Sam has his hands full and tells a hiding Anna that she is to accompany Callen. Before she leaves she jokes that his bed is on the curb and it looks like he needs a new one.

At the NCIS headquarters, Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) banter as Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) overhears them. He misunderstands offering Deeks herbs, who quickly corrects the situation saying they were talking about getting up on a surf board. As the team heads upstairs for a new case, Hetty informs Deeks that LAPD Detective Whiting (Karina Logue) has awaken from her coma; Deeks is very concerned.

Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith) and Eric share about the police shoot out this morning, and how Spence Taylor (Grantham Coleman) escaped and they believe he is working for the drug lord they refer to as “King” (Azie Tesfai); Eric reveals that Sam was on the case a few years ago, but they never quite closed the case. Nell is to work with Kensi while Deeks helps out Sam. They learn that Callen has gone to bring Ahmed Han Asakeem (Sammy Sheik) to LA for a deposition.

Sam brings in Taylor, revealing he was a cop. Taylor threatens to reveal who Sam is when he gets to prison and everyone will be after him. Sam tells him he is putting him back on the streets, and the longer he is with the LAPD the more he looks like a snitch. Sam also reveals they know about his family; in return for their safety Taylor needs to flip on King; but as far as everyone knows King is a ghost.

Sam tells him to call his connection Devlin Rush (Anthony Dilio) and introduce him. When Taylor protests, Sam asks him if he really thinks he has a choice. Taylor yells that he trusted him; Sam stands up and tells him he knows the rules; this is chess, not checkers!

Nell and Kensi meet with LA District Attorney, Frank Gibson (Bruce Thomas) in the middle of his press conference to talk to him about the drug bust; he introduces them to LAPD Detective Johnson (Marco Antonio Martinez) who is the one who will help them win the war on drugs.

He welcomes them aboard and says from now on to go through his assistant Shawn Wilson (Devon Michaels) who tells them to not call unless they have something concrete. Johnson reveals the bust was from an anonymous tip but before he can answer anything else, Wilson calls him away from them.

Sam is with Taylor when his connection arrives, Sam acts gangster and calls Taylor a snitch, throwing him off the pier. He turns his gun on Sam and says that now he owes them the money.

Sam says that Taylor was an LAPD informant, and he has the proof on a phone in his pocket. Sam reveals he knows this because he has a cop who shares intel with him in exchange for some cocaine. Sam wants to help King and be included, showing them the bag of money that Taylor had stolen. She believes he is legit, since she heard of “Switch” before.

Deeks comes up the hatch in the boathouse with Taylor behind him. Taylor isn’t happy about what happened when Deeks tells him he should say thank you for saving his life.

In Arizona, Callen and Anna apprehend Asakeem, but Eric calls him warning him there has been chatter about Asakeem’s custody transfer and offers to change their return flight; instead Callen says book them on every flight and every airline from Arizona to LA and every flight from Arizona to New York; every flight, every airline. Callen asks Anna if she is up for a roadtrip.

Kensi joins Deeks as he is watching live feed of Sam with King and associates. Eric calls and said the anonymous tip came from a burn phone, but waiting on more info. Sam is brought through a strip club, where he finally learns that King is actually a woman, he kisses her hand and she says she is “Queen”.

Sam stands with Queen and tells her a story about his father, and how disrespected he was. He said as he grew up Sam, himself learned how to be different with different people, like a switch.

She asks why he didn’t split with the cash; he makes her laugh when he tells her the money he wants doesn’t fit in that duffle bag. She shares that her partner isn’t happy with her and if she doesn’t have all the money tonight; he wants double tomorrow. She said her partner is making huge demands, and stepping over, getting greedy. She wants Sam to help her steal the remaining money and she will kill him herself.

As they watch over Sam, Deeks’ mind wanders to all the things he wants to do to Asakeem for what he did to Kensi; but she says she honestly doesn’t feel anything towards the man; she trusts the job and she needs to be okay with it. Deeks says he isn’t there, he wants to just break all his fingers; Kensi laughs and says she has Deeks and that is all she cares about.

Callen and Anna are driving, telling Asakeem they are going on a road trip, while they sing really loudly annoying him, asking if this is the new American torture. Asakeem says his brothers will find them anywhere; and they need to stop for him to use the bathroom, instead they just start singing louder again.

Sam arrives with Queen at Champ’s (Lester Speight) place, where he says he is getting some hardware for his lady; as he turns around both Sam and Queen pull a gun on him demanding all the cash. Sam pushes him through a wall full of cash and Queen fills bags of money and they escape; Champ comes out to shoot at Sam, but Deeks and Kensi shoot him first, ordering him to stay down.

LAPD Dt. Johnson says he won’t ask if they were doing ops without LAPD consent because of all the money and drugs. Deeks and Kensi leave wondering how Sam knew about this place, and what could have happened if they weren’t there.

Sam returns to the strip club with Queen and her associate, where she says they are now going to send a message to Zeus and the entire city; a hostile take-over. She sits on Sam’s lap, saying his man inside LAPD is going to help with the take-over.

Asakeem causes a problem in a local restaurant, instigating a fight with some military veterans; the sheriff comes in and tells them all to respect the law and orders Callen to get Asakeem out of there. As they exit the restaurant, mens begin shooting at them; the vets come out of the restaurant and kill the shooters instead. Callen and Anna learn they were not Asakeem’s men, there are more people after them.

Eric informs Callen the satellite phones were from a cabin close to the prison, but the cabin was blown up when they left it. They learn a drone has been in the area for over a year, Callen sends in forensics just in case. Callen says they need to move because there is another team after Asakeem.

Sam and Queen grab some guns, and he tells her his insider said the LAPD is dealing with a murder across town and they should have all day available. He asks where it is, but says the location is a surprise. Deeks and Kensi argue about stopping Sam and Queen as they are unsure of the location and the amount of casualties.

Eric calls Kensi and tells them that Assistant Shawn Wilson’s ex has way too much money in her account and he is currently at City Hall; Kensi leaves to get him. Once she has him at the boat shed, LA DA Gibson is shocked that Wilson was able to do this right under his nose.

Deeks informs Sam they have Zeus, Wilson admitted to everything. Queen and her crew load up and she tells them no one touches Zeus as he is hers. Sam hops in the SUV with her; just as they are pulling out of the garage, the police stop them. Queen is shot and learns tat Sam is a cop; before she dies she tells him to kill Zeus.

Sam returns to the boat shed, and admits something is off; Queen/King would have eaten Wilson alive. Sam grabs a folder, goes on a hunch, telling the team to stay behind in case he is wrong. He arrives at LA DA Frank Gibson’s house; confronts him of being Zeus and it stops now, and arrests him.

Asakeem arrives in Los Angeles, both Anna and Callen are exhausted, they are supposed to clean their guns per Hetty’s orders but he pulls her back on the couch, kissing her, saying that couldn’t wait.

Eric says someone has invested serious resources into finding Asakeem. Hetty says come out come out wherever you are!

THE END!
