According to Caitriona Balfe, things are going to get even hotter and heavier between her character Claire and Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) during ‘Outlander’ Season 3. In fact, Caitriona Balfe revealed that fans will be seeing plenty of action between Claire and Jamie, even though they haven’t seen each other for well over twenty years. The show stars Sam Heughan as Highlander warrior Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall, a married World War II nurse that finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743.
‘Outlander’ Season 3 begins with Claire and Jamie living in two different timelines. Claire is apparently back in the 20th century and in Boston after Jamie forced her to leave Scotland. Meanwhile, Jamie is dealing with the aftermath of the battle of Culloden. He’s also devastated with the loss of Claire. Claire and Jamie do end up reuniting and when they do, Caitriona says that sparks will be flying.
According to Vulture, Caitriona told reporters at the 12th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards that Claire and Jamie’s passion for each other will heat up the small screen now more than ever.
She said, “I think if anything, when Jamie and Claire get together again, their love is timeless and who they are inside is timeless. That was the fun part about this season: to sort of take that and try to see what 20 years of life does to a person. In terms of the sex, I think old people have good sex too, last I heard!”
Plus, it’s no secret that fans love Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s on-screen chemistry. In fact, it’s one of the seasons why many fans think that Sam and Caitriona might be an off-screen couple as well. Even though they’ve refused to confirm or deny reports that they are dating, Sam and Caitriona can often be seen flirting with one another during interviews and red carpet appearances. Even though they try not to talk about their persona lives with the media, fans know the truth about their relationship will come out one way or another.
The Starz network has confirmed that ‘Outlander’ Season 3 will return in September, 2017, although they haven’t given fans an actual date just yet.
