Prince William Hesitant To Attend LGBT Awards: Nominated For Straight Ally Award

Prince William hasn’t decided on whether he’ll be attending next month’s LGBT Awards even though he’s nominated for a Straight Ally Award. New reports indicate that Kensington Palace is even pushing for William to attend the awards ceremony, which will take place on Friday, May 12 in London.

In fact, one insider told Britain’s Daily Star that William’s attendance will help strengthen his connection with the LGBT community. Dubbed the ‘Gay Oscars,’ the ceremony is live streamed and is also considered to be the UK’s most publicized LGBT event. Tables are extremely limited and usually sold out within a month of the shortlist announcement. Past winners of the Straight Ally Award include Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, and Hollywood actor Sir Ian McKellen.

A source told the publication,Wills has become a bit of a surprise ally of the LGBT community after passionately speaking out against homophobic bullying. His support could see him picking up a British LGBT Award next month and I know awards organizers are working with Kensington Palace to secure him for the ceremony.”

Prince William was also the first member of the royal family to grace the cover of Advocate Magazine back in 2016. It was one of Advocate’s best selling issues of all time. He told the publication that no one deserves to be bullied for their sexuality of any other reason for that matter and he even opened up his home Kensington Palace to a group of people who have endured homophobic bullying.

William hasn’t said anything about his award nomination or if he’ll be attending the LGBT awards. Many royal insiders can’t help but wonder if Prince William would be willing to bring his wife Kate Middleton to the awards ceremony.

The Duchess of Cambridge has made it no secret that she loves attending red carpet events more than anything else. There’s a good chance that she’ll end up stealing the spotlight the same way she did at the BAFTA Awards this year. Then again, William knows that he won’t be able to attend the awards ceremony without Kate by his side. She’ll do whatever she can to make sure that she’ll be there, whether he likes it or not.

So far Kensington Palace has not made any comments about Prince William’s nomination or if he’ll be attending the awards ceremony. Don’t forget to check back with CDL for all the latest news and updates on the royal family right here!
