Princess Eugenie’s fairytale wedding has been stalled and, no, it’s not because of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle or even Pippa Middleton. Instead, it’s because Queen Elizabeth and Prince Andrew are feuding over money. There’s a new report that says their royal stand-off is delaying Eugenie’s wedding.
Princess Eugenie and her boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, have been dating for well over six years now. In fact, Eugenie even introduced Jack to her grandmother Queen Elizabeth last September. Yet, one of the reasons why they might not get married is over a dispute over renovating Kensington Palace’s Ivy Cottage. Eugenie and Jack want to move into the cottage but it first needs to be renovated after they discovered water damage.
The only problem is that Eugenie’s father Prince Andrew is refusing to pay for it and apparently, Queen Elizabeth doesn’t want to spend the money to fix it either. The cottage was given to Prince Andrew and his ex Sarah Ferguson as a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth back in 1986. Unfortunately, no one wants to spend the money to renovate the cottage before Eugenie and Jack move in.
One source close to the situation told Britain’s Daily Express, “Eugenie’s family don’t want to pay for the repairs because they don’t own the building but the powers-that-be are refusing to come up with the cash as well. Eugenie is obviously a bit upset as she was hoping to be making wedding plans by now. She was really looking forward to moving in and creating a warm and welcoming home, but it seems she will just have to be patient until this is resolved.”
The issue is just one of many problems that the Queen and Prince Andrew have had lately. Last September several reports said that Prince Andrew wanted to make his daughters Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice full-time royals. Prince Charles apparently blocked his request as he doesn’t believe that the monarchy needs to fully support any more family members.
