Roarke had wanted to strip the American people of their civil liberties. But that wasn’t something he could just do on his own because there was still a system of checks and balances in place. So he and the other remaining Collaborators had come up with the idea to change the constitution and stop all detractors from voicing an opinion or rising up against them however first Roarke had to get pass Alex and her friends. The agents knew that they had to stop Roarke while they still had the chance and so they initially thought it was possible to merely stop the vote altogether at the convention. Except they had gotten careless.

The agents all met at the same place, they had all looked for bugs, and they thought that they had managed to fool everyone into believing that they actual believed in DISA. However, they made the mistake of ignoring the new Smart TVs that were recently installed at their bar and so they hadn’t known that anyone was listening in until Maxell decided to burst their bubble. He had walked in on them and had even commended them on keeping up their stories for months on end though as it turns out he never thought that they were on the Collaborators’ side and he had simply been playing around them as a way to find out what their grand plan was.

Though knowing that they were willing to blackmail their way into stopping Roarke from getting his vote just meant they could counteract it. So the rogue agents were eventually let got once Maxell realized that they had nothing left to offer him and they had thought that that was it yet Clay had had an idea. Clay had suggested that they betray their country by handing over whatever information they had on Roarke to the Russians. He explained that the Russians could manipulate Roarke into doing anything they asked and that it could buy them time as they looked into Peter Theo. Theo had mistakenly revealed to them that he had no problem with spying on them.

So if that’s something he could do to a bunch of rogue agents that he once thought was working with him then he probably had information on his “partners”. Yet, the agents had needed to recruit some new members to get close to Theo and so Alex called in Will and Iris. Iris had come in for an interview back when Alex was working for the DISA, but she had only gone in to question why Alex would suddenly be defending stripping everyone of their rights. So Iris was the first person that came to Alex’s mind when she needed an agent to cross some boundaries and Iris had later proven to be quite good at seducing Theo with Will’s help.

Especially as both hadn’t had a problem with an unorthodox threesome. But in the end, their plan worked. They had gotten the information to the Russians and the Russians had done as Alex suggested. They had forced the president into changing the wording of his new platform and the agents had even gotten a recording of the whole encounter thanks to Peter Theo. So the video of the whole thing was released at the convention and Alex proved to the world that the president was not only compromised, but that he was willing to do anything as long as his group of elitist got what they wanted in the end. And so that should have been a victory.

The group had proven that there was shadow government and that the president was corrupt. However, there had been a shooter waiting in the wings and Alex had gotten shot just moments after unraveling everything the Collaborators built. So that unraveled Ryan. He had run to Alex’s side and hadn’t left her even as she was taken to an ambulance though thankfully Iris had told Alex that she couldn’t stand to see Ryan cry anymore so Alex revealed the truth. She hadn’t actually gotten shot. She had simply pretended like she did so that she could fake her death and get out of dodge before the Russians came looking for her.

Though that was the price she was willing to pay to stop her country from being used by either the Russians or the Collaborators. So the only one that truly went down for what happened was Roarke. He knew that the other Collaborators were all too rich to be punished as he was bound to be and so he chose to kill himself rather than be arrested or face the press. And that had admittedly been hard on Clay. He had suspected that Roarke would kill himself except it had still been surprising that he went ahead with it and that had merely been the start of it. Clay had later talked to Shelby about how he had distance himself from Maxine and why he did.

Clay had told her that Maxine had ended things, but the truth was that he had distance himself her because he hadn’t wanted her to become tainted with all that he was doing. Yet, Shelby told Clay about how she had taken so much time thinking about what others thought about her and she never wondered if she deserved better. So Shelby ended what could have been a relationship with Clay because she realized that he hadn’t cared about her good name even as he took precautions to protect Maxine and her putting a stop to things allowed him to realize their end of their world romance wasn’t real. It was merely two people being together because they were desperate.

So in the end Clay went back to Maxine because he knew she was the one for him however he didn’t turn his back on the rogue band of agents. He had gotten both Nimah and Raina out of prison and the whole team had gotten together again to put the case to rest while Ryan decided to go into hiding with Alex seeing as the American people didn’t know if they should thank her or arrest her for what she did.

THE END!
