Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice is mourning the death of her mother Antonia Gorga. RHONJ ‘s Teresa Giudice faced the tragedy of her mother, Antonia Gorga, dying without the support of her husband, Joe Giudice, who is still in prison. People Magazine reported on March 4, 2017, that Antonia Gorga has died at the age off 66.
Antonia made occasional appearances on her daughter’s show along with her husband Giancinto Gorga. The Gorga’s first appearance on “Real Housewives of New Jersey” was in season two. The cast and their parents went to Italy together to the Gorga’s home town of Sala Consilina, in the Campania region of southwest Italy. Antonia and Giancinto also have a son, Joe Gorga, who is Teresa’s younger brother.
It’s been reported that Teresa Giudice is inconsolable. The 44 year old mother of four was very close to her own mother. She regularly posted photos of the two of them together on social media. When Teresa was fighting with her younger brother Joe and his wife Melissa Gorga she often said she wanted peace for her parent’s sake. Teresa also worried what toll her trial for fraud and her incarceration would do to Antonia and Giancinto.
Grandmother Antonia was her daughter’s rock through the hardest time in her life. She regularly visited Teresa in prison and gave her strength to deal with the situation until she could come home. Antonia helped Teresa’s husband Joe Giudice with the couple’s four daughters since the girls were born.
When Teresa wrote her first cook book “Skinny Italian” she said it was a collection of recipes her mother passed down to her. Teresa said when she got married she could not cook. Antonia would walk her through recipes on the phone. Antonia’s photo can be seen in Teresa’s first two cook books.
Per US Magazine Teresa was with her mother in the hospital when she died. Teresa has been in contact with her husband, who is serving a long prison sentence for fraud in Fort Dix, New Jersey. Teresa has not yet made any announcements about her mother’s passing on her social media pages. Antonia Gorga’s cause of death has not yet been made public. There is also no news regarding Teresa Giudice’s mother’s funeral at this time.
