The 2015 Bachelor star, Chris Soules, has just been arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a car accident where the other driver was killed. TMZ confirms that the arrest took place on Monday night, after the car accident reportedly occurred in Iowa (where Chris is from) at 8:20 PM.
The details of the situation are still being updated, but as far as we know right now, Chris ‘slammed’ into a tractor, killed the driver, and then drove away without calling for help – likely hoping that no one would notice.
The details of the vehicles have since been made available; Chris Soules was driving a Chevy pickup, and the tractor he hit was a John Deere tractor; after the tractor was hit and fell into a ditch, the driver was reportedly taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. So at least he didn’t die on impact, not that it makes what Chris did any less reprehensible.
Thus far, Chris Soules has been reportedly booked with fleeing the scene of a death, and is in custody (after receiving medical attention). Further information provided by documents obtained by TMZ prove that Chris was in the ‘possession of alcoholic beverage containers at the time of the crash.’
When he drove away, Chris was likely hoping that no one would ever catch up to him. However, this is the one instance where being a former Bachelor didn’t help him – apparently, witnesses at the crash saw him and were easily able to identify him, and told the police as much.
As of now, he’s being held on a $10,000 cash bond, and is in court for his arraignment. It’s unlikely that Chris Soules or his lawyer will be able to talk their way out of the charges, especially with the alcoholic beverage containers since being discovered.
