Tonight’s episode of Blacklist: Redemption kicks off in the midst of a truck accident – it appears to have crashed right in to the wall of a prison. Men begin running out of the smashed wall with their hands chained together.

Scottie’s assistant arrive at her boy toy’s apartment to drop off his breakfast. She flirts with him and says Scottie won’t be able to make their appointment, she agrees to stay and eat with him.

Scottie arrives at the truck crash site, she was called in by the CIA. Apparently the “prison” was an underground location the CIA used to house enemy combatants waiting to be interrogated. There were 32 prisoners, but 5 escaped, and they killed two of Davenport’s guards.

The CIA needs Scottie help, because the prison site was illegal, and they want to keep it under wraps. Scottie heads back to the office and briefs her team on the 5 escaped prisoners that are running the streets of Manhattan. Basically, the Black Ops escapees are 5 of the most dangerous terrorists in the world.

Scottie sends Nez to the crash site, but she stops at her drug dealer’s house first. She needs more drugs, but he says that she’s short on cash. The dealer tries to cut a deal with Nez and get her to get some info from the DA, but Nez isn’t interested.

Tom and Nez head to the hospital to pick up the truck driver that crashed in to the building to see who hired him. While they are escorting him to the van, he makes a run for it – directly in to traffic and is hit by a car. Now, they are back to square one and have no leads on the prisoners.

Back at the office they catch a break, Dumont intercepts a 911 call, a man says someone in a prison jumpsuit has broken in to his apartment. Tom and Solomon race to the address, so they can beat the NYPD there. They find the homeowner tied up, and three prisoners have taken him hostage. Tom and Solomon manage to apprehend the prisoners, but then the NYPD arrives. They create a diversion and convince the cops to leave, without letting on that the prisoners are knocked out in the other room.

After handing over the prisoners, Tom meets up with his Dad. He tells his Dad that Scottie has found the family that adopted him, and it’s only a matter of time before she realizes that he’s alive. Tom’s dad tells him that “Mayhew[ one of the escapees] organized the prison breakout.” The he runs off, leaving Tom baffled.

Tom returns to the office, and Scottie demands to know where he was. He explains he was meeting with an anonymous source and learned that Mayhew is responsible for the breakout. Scottie just learned the same thing and wants to know who Tom’s source is, but he won’t tell her. Scottie knows he’s up to something and sneaking around behind her back.

Luckily the team has another angle they can work. Apparently, Dumont’s brother runs in the same crowd of anti-government hackers as Mayhew. Dumont pays his estranged brother a visit and taps his phone. It’s not long before Dumont’s brother reaches out to Mayhew and they are able to get a number for him and track his location.

Tom, Nez, and the team head to the address where Mayhew has been operating. He’s hiding out near a local hotel, and has hacked in to their surveillance system. They realize that Mayhew was staking out room 1521 and a man named Adler – but they are too late. The hospital just rushed Adler to the hospital, they thought he was having a heart attack.

At the hospital, Nez and Tom question Adler’s wife. She reveals that her husband was one of the “Seven key holders of the internet” and he was being inducted at the ICANN key ceremony, that’s why they were in town. Clearly, it’s not a coincidence that Mayhew, a notorious hacker, was interested in one of the men that hold the “key to the internet.” Every year that key holders hold a ceremony and assign new domain names and numbers to make it difficult for hackers.

Tom and Nez rush to the key ceremony, when they arrive, they realize that Adler’s alternate Jeremy Wallace is working for Mayhew. Adler takes all of the key holders hostage, and Mayhew arrives and uploads the master key to his laptop. Tom and Nez finally get in to the room with Adler and Mayhew, and arrest them. Once they are apprehended, they realize that Mayhew was accessing to key to the NSA database.

While they are arresting Mayhew, Scottie gets word that the last prisoner was located hiding on the ferry and has been taken in to custody. So, their mission is complete. Or so she thinks. Scottie leaves the office and heads to the Phelps house – a woman answers the door and Scottie announces that they adopted her son. She sits down with the woman, and they compare photos, it turns out the boy they adopted was not her son Christopher after all.

Meanwhile, Nez and Tom are transporting Mayhew back to the CIA. He tells them in the car that he’s innocent, the NSA set him up, and the reason he stole the data was to prove his innocence. Mayhew says that they are coming for him, the NSA wants him to disappear, that’s why they put him in the illegal prison.

Sure enough, their car is surrounded by black SUV’s. They run Nez off the road and men in black attempt to take Mayhew and the flashdrive, but Tom and Nez fight them off. They hide out in a warehouse, but the men chase after them. It’s beginning to look like Mayhew may be telling the truth after all and the NSA wants him to disappear because of whatever he uncovered.

Tom and Nez get back to the office safely, they pull surveillance footage and Scottie recognizes one of the men from the NSA. When the CIA and NSA arrive to pick up Mayhew, Scottie confronts them for framing Mayhew. The CIA arrests their cyber liason Jack after he confesses to setting Mayhew up, he claims it was for the good of the country.

After work, Scottie heads to her boytoy Trevor’s house. She lies in bed and drinks wine and cries to him about nearly finding Christopher. After Scottie leaves, Trevor texts her assistant Kat.

Tom leaves to meet up with his father – he’s shocked when he arrives and runs in to the private investigator that was working with Scottie. Apparently, he and Tom’s father set up the entire meeting with fake adoptive parents to convince Scottie that Christopher really is dead.

Howard explains to Tom that he needs to find out what Whitehall is. Scottie has a black ops in their own organization, she has been hiding it for years. And, whatever Whitehall is, it was big enough that Scottie tried to have Howard killed to keep it quiet. Howard thinks that Tom can gain Scottie’s trust, and will be the key to cracking the case.

THE END!
