Tonight on E! The Royal’s airs with an all-new Sunday, January 29, 2017, Season 3 episode 8 and we have your The Royal’s recap below. On tonight’s The Royals season 3 episode 8 called, “In the Same Figure, Like the King That’s Dead,” as per the E! synopsis, “Jasper (Tom Austen) tries to strike a bargain to protect his past and secure his future with Eleanor, (Alexandra Park) who decides to raise awareness for a good cause by participating in a nearly naked tiger run. Meanwhile, Helena (Elizabeth Hurley) slips away for a romantic trip to Paris, much to the annoyance of her staff and family.”

Liam wasn’t in a good place. He had tried standing up for himself and proving that he was just as good as his brother yet Robert managed to ruin that for him and so Liam felt like he did when he was growing up. He feels like he’s second fiddle and it hurts him to find out that the world basically thinks the same. Liam’s hashtag was no longer trending and his own family had more or less forgotten about him. But Liam has had time to reflect on tonight’s episode of “The Royals” and so he later sought his brother out.
Liam went to Robert and he apologized for his behavior after the boxing match. He said that he had gotten out of line when he tried to punch Robert again however he also said that some of that anger came from living his life without Robert in it. He said that he had found himself with his big brother away and that he was a little lost. Yet, Robert was surprisingly understanding and smug at the same time. He acknowledged that his brother had probably tried to be him when everyone thought he was dead and then he said the fight didn’t matter.
Robert had told Liam that he was his brother and that he loved. However, Robert also added that nothing Liam would ever do would make him stop loving him. So the brother did care for each other though they both had a difficult time with finding their own way and they had needed guidance. They most likely had their father when they were younger to help them adapt to their roles and with him gone they have had to rely on Helena. Helena on the other hand has been missing some of the signals.
She had talked to Liam not that long ago about what he must be feeling with Robert back, but she hasn’t spent much time since trying to help Liam or even support. Though Helena has been spending a lot of time focusing on her love life. She had been sleeping with Spencer for a while and initially she had really liked him. So it came as a surprise for Spencer if no one else when Helena decided their sleeping agreement and actually date someone publicly. She has been dating a handsome billionaire that likes to take her for tea in Paris and romance her with the finer things in life.
But the only problem with Helena’s new romance appeared to be Spencer’s jealousy because he was in fact jealous. Spencer had liked the queen and he had thought that they were truly connecting though Helena hadn’t ended things with him properly. She hadn’t talked to him or explained why they couldn’t continue with what they were doing. So he had found out that she was done with him by walking into her bedroom and finding another guy there so Spencer did get upset by that. He had thought he had meant more to Helena than a boy toy.
So it came as no surprise when Spencer thought he should leave his job. He had tried to make his new relationship with Helena work and it just hadn’t worked. He had truly felt something for Helena and he felt like she dismissed his feelings. Yet, Helena later saw his letter of resignation and she rejected it. She told Spencer that he was her friend and perhaps her only friend so she told him that he couldn’t quit and said that he had to get over his school yard crush. Which had been offensives because she had dismissed his feeling for her again.
Only that was Helena. She said that Spencer mattered a lot to her and so she told to stop being a p*ssy. However, Spencer took that mean that he still had a place in her life and therefore he chose to stay on at the palace. So Helena hadn’t been expecting anymore hiccups and instead that’s what she got. Robert and Liam had apparently been talking and Robert did come to see that he hadn’t always been fair to Liam. He admitted that his younger brother had stepped up in his absence and that Liam had proved he had what it took to become the next monarch. And so Robert had agreed to use their mother as a sounding board.
Robert had told his brother that if their mother, who had already been preparing Liam for the job, agreed that Liam should become the next king then that’s the recommendation they would put to the Privy Council. Though Helena had been tough with Liam. She told him that she was proud of him but that it was Robert’s time. Robert was the one that was always destoned to become king and that they had to be a united front as a family when they put Robert forward. So that had hurt Liam because he had seen his mother as his last chance and he hadn’t been happy to hear that it was his brother’s time so he had gone out drinking.
Liam had gone to the bar and had some drinks. But he had run into Jasper. Jasper had been doing some background work to clean his own slate and somehow win Eleanor back. So he had approached the same journalist that had gotten the dirt on him and he had made an exchange. He had told her that if she buried his story then her own would never come out and she would get an exclusive yet the exclusive was about Robert. Jasper had given the journalist the story of the guy that was hired to crash Robert’s plane and as it turns out that Brandon Boone had had additional information for Jasper.
Boone had told Jasper that there were a few things that he didn’t know and that was something that Jasper chose to keep to himself for the time being. Yet, Jasper had also asked the journalist to find information on a certain Prince Sebastian and Sebastian happened to be the guy that Eleanor was currently interested in. So the information about the guy might have been because of Eleanor or it could have been because of else though either way Jasper was still broken heart from breaking up with Eleanor and Liam was broken hearted for losing so much. And it turns he lost more than he knew.
Willow had finally came clean about her feelings for him and she had decided that she couldn’t wait around to see if Liam ever felt the same. So Liam didn’t have Kathryn, Willow, or the Crown however his brother had merely used their mother as a scapegoat because he hadn’t wanted to tell Liam outright that he couldn’t be king. And so his mother called him out on that bit of cowardice after Liam had already stormed off.
