What was New Horizons? Both Eph and Alex had come across pamphlets detailing that New Horizons were a farming community and that they needed workers however it was also where the strigoi were shipping people and so that made Eph question what it really was. He didn’t think the place would be as great as the pamphlets were describing because if it was then the strigoi wouldn’t need to kidnap anyone. But convincing Alex to go with him to investigate the matter had been the easy part. The hard part was actually getting to the farm.

It was located miles away from the city and neither of them had been that far away in a long time. However, they thought that they would run into some people that might help and had been surprised to see that wasn’t true. They passed towns that had been cleared and had even found some teenager’s phone that showed her family all wanted to go to New Horizons. Which was where they were all going to get their fresh start. So that showed that despite the strigoi’s efforts in the city that they still needed more people. And so they still had questions.

The two needed to know how many people have been moved and why? Though ghost towns didn’t tell them much and things were getting worse in the city even as they thought that there were bigger problems to deal with. So that was on them! They were off searching for answers as Dutch for one had figured out why the strigoi were rounding up all the B Positive women. It turns out that there wasn’t anything the strigoi loved more than B Positive blood and thought it was better if it was infant blood.

But Dutch did her best to be brave and defiant as Eichorst drank that very same blood in front of her. She told him that she wasn’t afraid of him and she had also prodded him with the one thing she knew would hurt him. Dutch said that he won yet he couldn’t gloat over it because the professor was most likely dead by then. So Eichorst demanded to know what she was talking about and she explained that the professor had been taken hostage with her and that two had been separated. She was sent to the birthing center and the professor was sent to be drained.

So Eichorst looked into it because Dutch had been right and it had aggravated him to know that he had been so close to getting his hands on the professor again. Yet, Dutch had been wrong when she thought that the professor was dead because Eichorst later found him alive in one of the hospitals. The professor was being drained of his bone marrow, under heavy sedation, and was in a lot of pain however he was very much still alive and so Eichorst demanded that he be woken up. He had wanted to stand over the professor as the other man realized just where he landed.

Dutch though hadn’t meant to betray the professor. She thought he had died and that he didn’t have to suffer anymore. However, leave it to the strigoi to keep the professor prisoner as long as possible because now there wasn’t an escape for him. He woke up with Eichorst playing tricks on him by getting him to see things meanwhile Dutch was transferred. She was sent to a room where the other women that didn’t get pregnant were getting their heads shaved and so she told them truth. Dutch told the group that they weren’t being sent to a safety, but to their deaths.

Dutch told everyone about how the babies were getting drained in the same building and that they would all be next. So that caused a mass riot. The women all rose up to fight the guards and Dutch used the chaos to go find the professor. She had found out he was alive the same time that Eichorst did and so she refused to leave the building until she rescued him. But to get to the professor, Dutch had had to get around Eichorst so she came up with an idea. She grabbed an oxygen tank and waited to set it on fire until she was just close enough to Eichorst that she could finally stop him.

Only she was making her escape with the professor when Eichorst found him on fire and extinguished it. So Dutch didn’t know if she truly killed him or not yet her focus had been more on getting away than on settling some old grudge so Dutch and the professor made their escape. Yet, they couldn’t save everyone. They left behind countless women at the center and they both knew that the place would be up and running before long. So all they truly did besides save their own skins was throw a minor setback into the strigoi’s plans.

Fet on the other hand, had found the plutonium with Quinlan and Charlotte’s help. They had scouted the convoy and had attacked with some untrustworthy friends. But before those friends could become a problem, their leader had gotten drained and the others had run off before they could be next. So that solved one problem however, another problem had been Quinlan. Quinlan had a problem with the others counting him as a friend because he remembered every other time he had gotten close to someone and how that usually ended with the Master striving to take those people away from him.

Like that time he had fallen in love during the end of Victorian London and how he thought that he found a family. However, the Master showed up right as he was doing his best to blend it and he had killed everyone. So Eichorst wasn’t the only one that could take pleasure in petty revenge. The Master was just the same and Quinlan feared that the Master would find a way to somehow win again even as they got their hands on the plutonium though the Master seemingly got a head start with all of his plans. The birthing center, the hospital, and Eph believed New Horizons were all plans to bring about the end of the world.

Eph and Alex had ultimately across a survivor. A woman that had decided to back out of New Horizons at the last minute because she had a bad feeling about it yet unfortunately, she had started to turn not long after leaving everyone else behind. So the survivor didn’t have long except she offered to show the two New Horizons and so they finally found out what it was. They found out it really was a farm where the humans were the livestock and the strigoi were the farmers.

THE END!
