The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Adam Newman's Return - Michael Muhney Spills Latest Rehiring News

The Young and the Restless spoilers have the latest news on Michael Muhney’s return as Adam Newman based upon a recent interview. Michael Muhney (ex-Adam Newman) made a guest appearance on cyclist Phil Gaimon’s podcast, The Peloton Brief Podcast, and spoke about his life and times on The Young and the Restless.

Michael shares about his first years on the show and how he ultimately self-destructed. Michael now hopes he will have a chance for redemption with a replay as Adam Newman on Y&R – Michael also provides major clues about an imminent return.

It wasn’t until Michael Muhney was on The Young and the Restless for a year that he felt comfortable enough financially to buy a home. Y&R was the first time he felt that he would have a job for a long time. The Executive Producer of the show came to him and said, “You are the next Victor Newman.” Eric Braeden had been on the show for 30 years and the powers that be viewed Michael as the his successor.

Michael made mistakes about how he looked at things and grew bitter because he didn’t want to play the same role for the rest of his life. Toward the end of his third year and into his fourth he started saying, “you are gonna have to fire me or I am gonna have to quit.” He attributes his biggest mistake to his ego. He always thought the grass was greener.

Michael was playing a character that he loved but thought he was going to leave and primetime was going to snap him up. He kept saying, “I am gonna leave or you have to push me out the door or something has to change. After 6 months they finally said fine, you are leaving.”

Michael said during the interview, “My problem was I was a f***king idiot. I was my own worst enemy. I just kept pushing and I needed to just keep my head down and do my work.” Michael decided to pick battles with Eric Braden that he never should have picked. The powers that be finally had to split Eric and Michael up.

Michael’s firing was a huge wake up call. The very next day he realized the greener grass turned immediately brown. He sent an email which was heart-felt and was told, “We are thinking of bringing you back after the Christmas break but you have to guarantee us that your mouth is going to be shut.” He again realized he was his own worst enemy.

During the holidays TMZ reported a rumor that Michael behaved inappropriately toward a young female actress on the show. Nothing happened. It never happened according to Michael. He thought it was so nothing that he didn’t respond publically and some thought his non-response looked bad.

Michael Muhney paid a private investigator and found out a woman in Florida randomly started the rumor. Y&R has a large cast (many of whom had never even worked with Michael) and some of them believed the TMZ story. They figured it must be true because Adam was a popular character. Why would they fire him?

Michael told himself it was going to come around, he knew and the show knew the rumors were false. “This rumor disgusted me. I have a daughter. I NEVER would do that. People thought I was gay on sets cause I never hit on girls. I was always professional.” Ultimately the show hired Justin Hartley to replace Michael.

Michael says that his heart is now in the place where he wants a second chance and can make the most of it. With Justin’s departure from Y&R and success on “This Is Us,” Michael wants to redeem himself. He said, “My people are trying to talk to the right people. I want to go back to Y&R.”

Critcally important was that Michael made it clear that he was in touch with several members of the Y&R cast and each of them was texting, encouraging him to stay the course, and come back as Adam Newman on The Young and the Restless. One and all said they would LOVE to have Michael back. Close attention to the interview allows the listener to come to the fair conclusion that Michael Muhney has already been rehired or an offer will be soon forthcoming!
