The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sharon’s (Sharon Case) backstory will be expanded in a direction that hasn’t been rumored. While her father may be embodied by veteran soap star Walt Willey, Jess Webb (Alex) will come to Genoa City and eventually become Sharon’s sister, though she’ll obviously go by another name for awhile. Just imagine Sharon’s surprise when she learns that the woman Dylan (Steve Burton) slept with is also her unknown sibling!
A terrific write-out sent Dylan out of Genoa City as a hero. However, dialogue within Burton’s last episode revealed that only two of three members of the drug sting were accounted for. As for Alex, well, she disappeared. Luther Fisk’s (Scott Speiser) top general remains committed to finding Derek (Dylan’s undercover alias), whose identity as an officer she questioned during their last interaction in that Miami alley, and that leads her into our fictional Wisconsin town.
Where the implied pregnancy plot plant is a head-fake, or not, the arrival of Webb’s character will initially appear to put Sharon and her family in danger. But Alex will mask her identity and intentions after she learns of the unexpected connection with Sharon. They share different mothers, thus Sharon’s blonde locks are dissimilar to the dark hairdo Alex sports.
Each sister obviously chose different paths in life. Thus another time when the pull of one’s environment overtook genetic tendencies. Alex seemed genuinely attracted to Dylan. Of course the night they shared wasn’t about love and Derek surely appeared to show his interest in what Fisk’s agent had to offer. She’ll naturally be conflicted about how to handle the revelation that Dylan’s wife is her sister and thus Alex will maintain her cover indefinitely.
As viewers know, Dylan is the only person to have actually seen Alex. So no one in Genoa City will know who Webb’s character is when she arrives. The Young and the Restless know that it’s possible that Paul (Doug Davidson) and Kevin (Greg Rikaart) will fill in the blanks later, but until that happens Sharon will simply believe that her family has been unexpectedly expanded.
A daily soap opera requires extended storylines. So the second reveal, where Sharon learns that Alex is her baby sister, will be withheld for awhile. Boom Part II plays out by Fall 2017. Of course, Walt Willey’s addition to the cast will also play directly into the aforementioned proceedings.
But that’s another storyline to be addressed on another day. In the meantime Sharon fans should be happy because Case’s character is definitely moving in a new direction.
