The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that brilliant star Camryn Grimes has something to say about Mariah and Tessa’s controversial kiss on Y&R. The romantic moment of passion sparked a wave of commentary online, with many fans shocked that writers have chosen to take Mariah and Tessa’s relationship in a new direction.
In fact, many viewers of The Young and the Restless have noticed in recent weeks that Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) have been getting very close and personal. Their relationship though took a huge public turn when they locked lips during a previous Y&R August episode.
And now Camryn is responding to all the commentary online, which has been both favorable and unfavorable. She wrote on her Twitter account, “So many of you are giving me life! Your strength is power, progress, and potential. And I love you.”
When one fan said that her days on The Young and the Restless might come to an end soon because of her character’s new lesbian romance, Camryn responded with, “I managed to last 20 years and one death… I’ll take my chances.” In other words Camryn Grimes stood up to detractors who want Y&R to remain mired in the past and pretend that same-sex relationships don’t exist.
While there’s no denying that some long-time The Young and the Restless fans are upset over this new same-sex romance, the series is also the only current daytime soap without any LGBTQ characters. There are also reports indicating that CBS executives have also expressed their concern about the new storyline.
Like it or not – American television keeps up with changing times and since Y&R is not a period piece set in some mythical ‘Father Knows Best’ past – but set in the present day – fans will need to get used to some changes.
