The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) recognition of similar dimples Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) and Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) appear to share has sparked the reigniting of a back-benched paternity issue. Despite Sally Sussman’s past comments, a big reveal will be spilled by spring.
Sussman said in November, “Unless there is a compelling reason to have Nick learn the truth, I see no reason to go there.” That statement begs the question – Is that compulsory issue now being written into the script?
Adam (Justin Hartley) went to his apparent grave believing that he had a second son. A message from the great beyond was delivered by Michael (Christian LeBlanc) to Chadam after Sage (Kelly Sullivan) died, which seemed to confirm in Adam’s mind that he was, in fact Christian’s biological father. However, many key characters in this arc believed at the time that the little boy in question had died. Sully’s later revert significantly altered Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) reality.
As soon as Mrs. Newman saw that Nick was questioning said family resemblance, she deleted the digital photo in question. That reactionary move merely kicks the guilt can down the road, as these apparent brothers are readily accessible outside of their pictures. The next time they’re together Nick is bound to check out similar facial features and then cast off his mild curiosity as a coincidence.
This seemingly innocuous situation (from Nick’s perspective) likely represents an initial tease and a forthcoming paternity reveal date. However, some type of future matching donor request would blow this matter wide open.
Viewers can concoct whatever soapy scenarios they like. After doing so they can then imagine Nick learning that he doesn’t match Christian’s genetic identity. A sobbing Chelsea later admits what she and Adam believed and the seeming super couple known as chick flies away, much to some fans delight, or chagrin.
Chelsea considered a preemptive move by telling Nick what she knows. But a conversation with Victor (Eric Braeden), after the Christian reveal was dropped, and her own hesitancy has kept this secret under wraps. Who can blame her? She thinks both of Christian’s parents are dead, plus Adam specifically said that he didn’t want to cause Nick any more pain by revealing this so-called fact.
Whether Adam truly is Christian’s father isn’t fully conclusive. Until an actual test is conducted, using DNA samples from Sage and Nick, viewers can continue debating the issue. In the meantime, Y&R fans will be waiting for further visual evidence. Continued questioning by Nick, along with a variety of other plot-push techniques would surely further this potentially developing storyline.
