The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Devon (Bryton James) will accept his wife’s offer to not fight a divorce. However, Hilary’s (Mishael Morgan) initially modest financial settlement suggestion will trigger a personal war. The resulting legal battles will put half of Devon’s inherited fortune in jeopardy.
Hilary seemed to believe that no matter what she did somehow anything, or everything could be restored. But not this time. Devon is serious about wanting the woman he thought was ‘the one’ out of his life.
The day after Mr. Hamilton asked his expected ex-wife to leave the building that he recently purchased for her, Hilary rang his doorbell. He’d just spoken with Neil (Kristoff St. John), who attempted to console him along with Lily (Christel Khalil).
Lily’s presence at the condominium actually came at Hilary’s pressured request. Earlier in the episode the first letter in Hevon went to the Genoa City Athletic Club in search of her current sister-in-law. Lily quickly picked up on her unusual lack of self-defense and surmised that something was wrong. She took Hilary’s advice and joined her father at Devon’s residence.
Devon told his loved ones that he’d finally realized that his marriage was sick from the start. It was formed by cheating with his father’s wife. Ever since that point he’s been trying to convince the rest of his family (and himself) that it all made sense. It never did and now, after so much carnage was realized, Devon finally accepted that this toxic drink he mixed needed to be spilled.
Neil later wisely advised Lily that he’s not promoting Hevon’s endgame, as that’s something Devon needs to bring to a full conclusion on his own. Devon will move forward, aware that his financial situation is tenuous. He doesn’t hold a prenuptial agreement and despite initial attempts to resolve this dissolution amicably, a coming event will fuel a money war.
Viewers know that the dysfunctional connections Hilary has with the Winters’ and Ashby families will surely lead to a future provocation. After that bridge is blown, Hilary will try to take Devon for as many zeroes as possible.
Whether the woman whose name is actually Ann Turner assumes ownership of GC Buzz in the settlement, along with a chunk of coin isn’t yet known. But Devon will naturally feel betrayed again. However, he’ll only have himself to blame and will have learned the harshest lesson of his life. Taking your father’s wife and believing that represented the start of a healthy relationship was infinitely misguided.
