The Young and the Restless spoilers ask if Genoa City is better off without Adam Newman? Rage reactions may be elicited by this completely reasonable question. Logical minds took note of the headline that referenced the character himself, rather than the actors who played Adam.
Chris Engen, Michael Muhney and Justin Hartley combined to play the adult version of this character from 2008-2016. There’s been no word about Y&R soliciting Engen’s return. Muhney wants to come back, but real, imagined or some meld of both types of politics appears to be preventing that reunion. Hartley is part of NBC’s successful This Is US nighttime soapish show. So, he’s unlikely to return to the cast anytime soon, if ever.
Misguided minds believe that interacting with any public personality represents true power. No, that type of connection makes one a modern pen pal and almost always nothing more. So whatever one’s feelings are about the actors who played Adam, this feature’s focus is about how the fictional characters have fared since Victor Adam Newman apparently died last September.
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) are worse off. Yes, Nick (Joshua Morrow) is a good boyfriend for the widow Newman. But the Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity issue seems likely to either damage or doom Chick eventually.
Victor (Eric Braeden) was stunned into some type of depression after he learned that Adam died. His connection to Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), who believes she killed her nemesis via the cabin explosion, then served to damage Victor’s relationship with Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and destroy his link to Nick.
Chloe and Kevin (Greg Rikaart) left GC because of Adam’s death. Chloe’s admission to having killed the man made her a wanted criminal. So as long as Khloe’s life in Oregon works out well, they’ll be better off.
Billy (Jason Thompson) stopped hating Adam awhile ago. Delia’s (Sophie Pollono) other parent can therefore be scored as neutral.
Abby (Melissa Ordway) benefited from Adam’s death. Victor’s family loyalty assessment has resulted in his second-born daughter being allowed to test drive his CEO’s chair; a privilege she may not have had if her brother’s unexpected departure hadn’t happened.
Scott (Daniel Hall) returned to GC after Adam died. He’s since supplanted Adam in some form in Victor’s life. Sharon (Sharon Case) once loved Adam, but she’s with Scott now.
Jack (Peter Bergman) considered Adam to be like a son. He doesn’t yet have proof of Victor’s involvement in Adam’s death and isn’t even aware of that part of this storyline. Jack’s been managing his grief well, but does miss this confidant.
