The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Michael (Christian LeBlanc) will help Lauren (Tracey Bregman) fight Jack’s (Peter Bergman) hostile takeover attempt against Fenmore’s. Now that Mr. Baldwin has been made aware of his wife’s financial predicament, he’ll be able to respond to any needed legal services Lauren might need when Jabot’s expected attack begins.
Gloria (Judith Chapman) was right to confront Lauren. After seeing her daughter-in-law’s terrible profit margin Gloria decided to insert herself into Lauren’s business affairs. After being directly told that her help wasn’t needed, mother-in-law dearest set up a meeting with Smilin’ Jack.
The history between Jack and Gloria is legendary. Once upon a time in Genoa City, which was before social media was born, Gloria was twice married to Jack’s now departed father, John (Jerry Douglas). However, Jack had both of those marriages ruled invalid, which kept the never-was-Mrs. Abbott separated from John’s dough.
There also was another side story about Jack conning his inmate father into writing a fake will that gave Gloria diddly-squat. John was locked up at the time because he’d killed Terrible Tom (Roscoe Born), who was Gloria’s ex-husband. Kevin (Greg Rikaart) was tortured by Tom when he was a child. Kevin is Michael’s half-brother, through Gloria, which loops us back to today’s digital tale.
Whether Gloria is being honest with Jack remains to be seen. She’s suggesting to that she’ll help him obtain Fenmore’s if he agrees to allow her to play a small role in the overtaken company. But Gloria just told Lauren that she would help protect the company. So it seems possible that Jack’s former stepmother (in John’s heart, if not in the law) must be trying to trap this sneaky man, who also hasn’t forgotten about the beauty cream debacle.
Jack’s revived outlook emerged after he’d come to terms with the end of his marriage. Phyllis wasn’t forgiven, but she was wished well and divorced after the unseemly affair with Billy (Jason Thompson) was revealed.
Lauren thought Jack might be persuaded against his takeover attempt when she told him that Phyllis was now employed by Fenmore’s. He was surprised by that fact, as his ex-wife merely said that she was pursuing a project after resigning from Jabot. After only skipping one beat, Jack responded by saying Phyllis’ presence at Lauren’s company didn’t really matter.
Fenmore’s is in a vulnerable position. So Lauren must remain on guard and hope that she’ll be able to outmaneuver Jabot’s predatory desires. Jill’s (Jess Walton) input and assistance should be sought in this particular instance because Jack means business.
