The Young and the Restless spoilers tell us that Nicholas “Nick” Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan) bonded during their time of grief, and now, they are trying to find comfort in each other and move on with their individual lives. However Y&R spoilers warn us that a huge paternity secret will blow up in the aspiring couple’s faces. While Nick says wants to take things slowly, the people around Chelsea and Nick are way too eager to make them happen as a couple! Their chemistry as a couple is lukewarm at best, and it seems as though Nick is going through the motions to progress the relationship.
Y&R fans ask if Nick is passionate about Chelsea, or is she just a placeholder in Nick’s life while he tries to convince himself that he is moving on? Whenever Sharon (played by Sharon Case) appears, Nick looks longingly at Sharon, fondly teasing and almost flirting with her, even when they are talking about how to handle issues with their daughter Faith (Alyvia Alyn Lind).
Nick has been Sharon’s hero from day one – The Young and the Restless fans know he sees her as someone he needs to save and someone that complements him. She makes him feel needed and loved, and he was always the main focal point for Sharon in their lives, even when they were in college.
Fast forward years later, Sharon announces she is going back to school, he is intrigued, surprised, and threatened all at once. For the first time, Sharon is putting herself first, and not focusing on a man. Nick is secretly longing for her to gravitate towards him, and when Sharon tells Faith in front of Nick all they will never be more than friends, Nick’s face is struck with surprise and then disappointment as he looks down. The opposition from Nick’s family made Sharon even more intriguing to Nick, and they have always somehow come back to each other.
While Chelsea has a checkered past, she is a bland choice for Nick. The Young and the Restless spoilers claim that they have nothing in common other than loss. Also, there are so many spectators around them, it almost feels as though any progression in the relationship is forced. When two people are attracted to each other, they normally express what they love about the other person to their friends and family.
Instead, Chelsea and Nick spend much time explaining the stages of their relationship to people rather than gushing about each other. There is so much commentary about the progression of their relationship, from Nicholas’s parents to her friend Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) !
Victor (Eric Braeden) tells Nick that he has a ready-made family with Chelsea, and Nick has to caution his father to slow down. Shortly thereafter, Victor makes a visit to Chelsea and warns her not to reveal the secret that could tear the whole family apart.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) places too much emphasis on his date with Chelsea, even after Faith pretends Nikki was unconscious, and frantically calls Nick in an attempt to interrupt his date with Chelsea. Nikki urges Nick to rush back to Chelsea after Faith’s ruse is uncovered. Instead, they should have had a talk with Faith as a family, and ended the night on a positive note. Nikki’s suggestion was almost like a childish trick to show Faith her plan didn’t work.
Chloe rushes through all the scenarios for Chelsea’s future with Nick, even though the relationship is in its beginning stages. On their third date, when Nick comes to pick Chelsea up, Chloe chats with Nick while he waits for Chelsea to get ready. Chloe remarks that they are going on their third date, and things must be pretty serious. Chloe then proceeds to give Nick a recount of Chelsea’s history of depression and darker times, telling him that Chelsea was in a black hole and is finally coming out of it. This is NOT the conversation you have when someone is about to go on a date with your friend!
This uneasy feeling continues on Nick and Chelsea’s date. Even at the restaurant, their conversation is so awkward, forced, and strained, that even Nick says “I should stop talking.” They both admit they are “not good at this”, referring to their dating skills. Is that REALLY the problem?
Nick’s feelings for Chelsea are average at best, but The Young and the Restless spoilers ask WHAT will happen when he finally discovers the HUGE secret Chelsea, Victor, and Chloe are hiding from him? We know that Victor had Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen)’s paternity test changed, where it made it look like Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) was the father instead of Nick.
When Nick finds out the truth, he will question any mild feelings he ever felt for Chelsea. It will also cause a rupture in his relationship with his father. Of course, Nick could put the past behind him and forgive Chelsea and also forgive his father. Is Nick’s desire to move on with Chelsea greater than his feelings for Sharon? Only time will tell.
