The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) is likely to make a Y&R crossover now that she’s officially inked a one-year contract with The Bold and the Beautiful. The lead-in to that return will be established in Los Angeles with the Forrester family.
Brown recently said that the potential is definitely there for her character to appear on Y&R. The recently revived Scott (now played by Daniel Hall) character certainly teases that potential. An interesting twist would have Scott crossover to B&B, thereby establishing a logical plot path back to Genoa City where his mom and Sheila’s eternal nemesis Lauren (Tracey Bregman) is living.
Fans of Y&R’s spinoff show, daytime viewers who’ve seen CBS’ teasers and savvy readers of this site all know that the incredible actor who plays the most infamous soap opera villain in modern B&B and Y&R history is back. The masterfully kept secret of Brown’s return dropped in daytime on June 9.
A few insider’s joke plot points were written by B&B’s staff. Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan) attempted to shoot Quinn (Rena Sofer). Katie (Heather Tom) and Sheila were initially suspected to be the shooter. But Deacon admitted to Quinn that he’d pulled the trigger a few times purely to scare her. He held a grudge for good reason, as she’d previously pushed him off a cliff.
Daytime fans know that Deacon is a crossover character from Y&R. Tom played Victoria on Y&R from 1991-2003 and became Katie on B&B in 2007.
As Genoa City devotees know, Eric Forrester (John McCook) was the Y&R personality who was used as the lead spinoff character to create B&B in 1987. Sheila crossed over from Y&R (where she debuted in 1990) to B&B in 1992. Brown was last seen on B&B in 2003, and on Y&R in 2006.
Everyone in Genoa City and Los Angeles believed that Sheila was dead. In one of the strangest and most controversial write-outs Y&R opted to seemingly kill Sheila off 2007. However, Brown wasn’t playing Sheila at that time. Instead Michelle Stafford was asked to play both Phyllis and Sheila in a dual role.
As with all things soap, it now appears that the woman who was claiming to be Sheila, who had radical plastic surgery to look like Phyllis, wasn’t Miss Carter. This point was referenced on B&B, but not deeply explored in order to justify fictional reality as of 2017.
Sheila simply told Katie that rumors about her identity were crazy. That dialogue exchange was a wink at B&B’s audience, which included crossover Y&R viewers (including this scribe).
