The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Strong 2017 Storylines Arrive - Sharon's Life Post Dylan's Departure Climax

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Sharon (Sharon Case) and Mariah (Camryn Grimes) will both become strong characters in 2017. The solid chops both actors possess is obvious. However, each character arguably hasn’t had a strong storyline since Grimes officially became Mariah, Cassie’s twin sister, in 2014. Though Case fans would argue it’s been forever since her character was given strong scripts.

Sharon has played the perpetual damsel in distress for many years. Always embattled, lying half of the time about issues that could have often been easily resolved with one dash of the truth thrown into the soapy soup and moving from man to man endlessly.

Grimes triumphant return to the show was redemptive. Countless old-school fans will never get past the decision to kill off her original character, Cassie in 2005. That choice was made in order to establish a different long-term dynamic for Sharon and Nick (Joshua Morrow).

Anyone who has watched The Young and the Restless since the Shick era likely cites Cassie’s death bed scene as the most epic emotional Y&R moment. To kill off any child is traumatic. To have one of, if not the greatest child actors within this genre die was, is and will always be staggering.

Case, Grimes and Morrow will, in all likelihood, never surpass the collective efforts they gave, which projected pain through every analog television screen. Amazing, Emmy-worthy efforts were delivered by all three actors and all key behind-the-scenes Y&R employees.

Morrow’s modern Nick is not with Sharon and presently distrusts his ex-wife due to the recently revealed Christian (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) issue. He’s also growing closer to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). So no Shick reunion is on the horizon.

Sharon will lose Dylan (Steve Burton) in an about-to-be revealed climax. Her work at Chelsea 2.0 will continue, which reestablishes a sense of independence. As 2017 plays out, Sharon won’t be portrayed as wacky and weak. Resilience and restored respect will be key themes within her storylines.

Mariah has fully bonded with her biological mother. She’s also currently involved in a heated workplace battle with a colleague. Mariah will be shown as less cold and more compassionate. She’ll also realize an adult relationship that offers potential for enduring love.

Yes, the good old days are gone. But Sally Sussman’s new writing team will allow both outstanding actors to be shown in solid arcs. Their strengths and the positive elements of their characters will remind viewers of yesterday, while also offering hope for the viable future of this beloved show.
