Anorexia Kills Daughter – Mother Warns Of Dangers Of Thin Models

It seems that the danger posed by ultra-thin models is very real and has not at all diminished over the years.   The perception that there is a need to be skinny in modeling and show biz is as prevalent today as it has ever been.   Words and pictures to the contrary, ostensibly designed to protect women from catching anorexia nervosa and starving themselves to death are hollow, and often serve to disseminate the very concepts they are supposedly discouraging. Read one woman’s heartbreaking story below:

It is due to personal tragedy that I speak with absolute authority on this matter, because my own beloved daughter Sophie died, aged 19, from anorexia three years ago.   In two short, devastating years I watched my healthy, happy girl diminish in front of me until she was reduced to skin and bone.  Shortly before she died of heart failure and internal bleeding, brought on by her eating disorder, she was so frail she could not raise her arm unaided.
