Michelle Williams Destined for Award Season Gold?

Michelle Williams Destined for Award Season Gold? Gorgeous! The stars rolled out for the 2011 Hollywood Film Awards on Monday but all eyes were on Michelle Williams. The actress dazzled in a blue Nina Ricci gown with a fabulously embroidered neckline.  Not only did she look stunning, she also nabbed the Hollywood Actress Award for her performance as Marilyn Monroe in ‘My Week with Marilyn’. In her acceptance speech, she reflected on the film icon’s struggle to gain respect in Hollywood:

“It seems to me that all that Marilyn ever wanted was to be taken seriously as an actress. She studied, she trained harder than me, and she never got the recognition that she deserved and craved. I feel very lucky tonight to experience some of that.”

The film, directed by Simon Curtis, offers an exciting foray into the making of ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’, which starred Monroe and was directed by Lawrence Olivier. It captures the sexpot’s fight to employ better methods of acting, since her talent was often called into question. Critics have praised Williams for portraying Monroe as an actual person, who suffered from crippling insecurities, and not simply a caricature.

This could be one of several awards that the star picks up for the film. Could an Oscar statue be in her future? She’s been nominated twice, for ‘Brokeback Mountain’ and ‘Blue Valentine’ so her chances are looking good! Earlier this month, Williams appeared at the New York Film Festival in a stunning Dior gown that caught so much attention it almost overshadowed her film.
