American Idol: Jessica Sanchez One Step Closer to Victory

Last night Jessica Sanchez was the first Idol hopeful saved and therefore making it to the finale next week. Did you watch last night’s episode? If you missed it, you can read the full recap HERE.

But the question is, does she deserve to be there? The judges have some sort of obsession with the 16 year old and don’t seem to be able to admit when she doesn’t provide a stellar performance. Judge Randy Jackson at times, does tell the truth, in fact when she sang”“I’ll Be There” (Video here) he said, “I liked it ok, I didn’t love it, once again we are at the end here, there was never a moment moment, it was ok but it wasn’t like oh my God.”  Even Jimmy Iovine, who choose the song for her, said “The judges seem to feel that it all came together in that moment, but she needs to have the most magical moment she has had to make it, she had two minutes to build it to a peak, it hurt her.”

Wow, what’s wrong with Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, the were “over the moon” with their reaction to this performance, which proves my point, they both have blinders on and sometimes it even rolls over to Randy.

I’m not saying that Jessica can’t sing, but she is not a true artist. She doesn’t write her own songs, she picks songs that are too old for her and she doesn’t play any instruments. Although her voice does have the “wow” factor at times, her presence on stage is poorly lacking which can be backed by the fact that America did once send her packing and she would be gone by now, if the judges had not used their save on her.

There are past Idol winners like Taylor Hicks and Lee DeWyze who made it by winning Idol but really haven’t have that much fame outside of it. My guess is that Jessica will be the same, her gazillion of fans will vote her in, but I hardly doubt that after the ink is dry on her Idol contract that she will be anything more than just a contestant that should have went home when America sent her there.
