Angelina Jolie is both terrifying and mesmerizing in the new trailer for Maleficent, Disney’s fresh re-telling of the classic Sleeping Beauty story. The first sneak peek trailer premiered on Wednesday and, while it doesn’t give us a whole bunch in terms of plot, the trailer does a stunning job of introducing the darkness of one of Disney’s most evil witches. The film features Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Juno Temple, and Sharlto Copley.
I think it’s wonderful when the stage is given to the villain; sometimes people forget that they have stories, too, and hopefully we’ll get to see how and why Maleficent turned into the cruel, untrustworthy, iconic sorceress that we all know and despise from other stories.
