George Zimmerman Case: Trayvon Martin Behavior "Suspicious" Claims Defense

The George Zimmerman trial has been at the center of the news for the past couple of days, and it’s starting to get more heated.

The prosecutors have already attempted to make Zimmerman look like, “an increasingly overzealous neighborhood watch participant who finally snapped after law enforcement did not respond to his calls.” However, the defense has claimed that Zimmerman was justified in calling the police after describing the events before Trayvon Martin’s death.

It’s very easy to pick sides in this case, but it’s not so easy to discern the truth. Some are automatically inclined to believe that what George Zimmerman did was wrong, and he should be punished. He claims that he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense, but there is no proof to show that Trayvon had any weapon that could have caused injuries to Zimmerman. But then again, Trayvon is dead and can’t defend himself, and there are no other witnesses to what actually happened.

Because of the intense media speculation and the high-profile nature of the case, the jurors for this case were picked very carefully, and they are also being kept under isolation. Right now, it’s just day 2 of the trial and you see both the prosecution and defense laying down their arguments and proof.

In addition to what the prosecutors and defense have been saying, a witness also claims that neighborhood watch volunteers were not supposed to follow suspects, which Zimmerman of course did when he followed Trayvon Martin after finding his behavior ‘suspicious’. Now, we know that Zimmerman followed him and then made a call to 911, and we know that they didn’t give him any instruction to continue following Trayvon, but we don’t know what happened after that. We’ll have to see if the prosecution manages to come up with an airtight argument, or if the defense manages to come up with a solid reason for Zimmerman’s actions. Right now, it’s not looking good for Zimmerman.
