When Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder first confirmed their split, you didn’t really believe that they were still the best of friends, did you? I mean, that’s what they told us and we were supposed to think that they were that rare couple that split up and quickly landed in the friend zone without skipping a beat. That was good PR for their hit show The Vampire Diaries, right? It left it possible for their characters to interact without fans thinking the actors were dealing with a mess behind the scenes.
Unfortunately, according to the July 1st print edition of Star magazine, there is no love lost here. Not enough time has passed for them to be friends again and now both Ian and Nina have to do publicity for the upcoming VD season. Sources say that the two barely make eye contact when appearing together at an official junket and it’s even worse when they are off the clock.
Apparently Ian keeps taking jabs at Nina and is simply being mean to her because of her emotions and how she has handled the split and that nastiness is leaving the actress in tears. Things are so tense that producers are worried that maybe this real life drama will actually get in the way of the show and that would be bad business for everyone involved!
Nina has clearly had a harder time dealing with the breakup, despite some reports to the contrary. Do you think she’ll be able to continue working with Ian if he continues to treat her badly?
