The contestants are told their challenge is to create a wrap dress for potential inclusion in a collection. They will get access to the fabrics and work room to complete their projects.

DVF comes in and tells the women she will be going to the CFDA Awards. They think they will be coming with her, but she instead tells them they have another project to work on.

Kier is called into DVF’s office, where she says at times she has wanted to send Kier and other times she has admired her, calling her the bitch of the group. Kier says she is just defending herself against the other girls. “I just think it’s because of how I look,” she says. “I don’t think it’s because of how I’ve behaved.”

Kier tells DVF she belongs here and thinks she can thrive here. DVF says she will come with her to the CFDA Awards so they can get to know one another better. She will go downstairs to get made over for the event.

Kier skips back into the room and immediately tells the other girls she will get to go to the awards. Amanda says she’s mad: “I’ve been doing well and not pissing everybody off.” When Kier leaves, the girls keep talking about how she rubbed it in their faces.

Kier goes down to get the makeover done, trying on several dresses that don’t look flattering. She starts sobbing profusely, which freaks Jessica out. “She’s a grown woman,” she says.

In the limo to the event, DVF says she was surprised Kier didn’t seem to think she was called up to the office to be eliminated. Kier admits she thought she may be, and she feels like it’s a catch-22 between not seeming confident enough and seeming like a bitch. DVF says she just has to be honest.

At the CFDA Awards, Kier takes photos of Rihanna and sends them to the other contestants, who mock her.  Kier gets upset because she doesn’t get to spend much actual time with DVF at the award show.  “I just don’t know what I’m doing here,” she says. “It just seems like another opportunity for me to screw up or something.”

DVF describes Kier’s behavior at the award show as excellent. However, she says: “My challenge with Kier is, which of the Kiers will win? The good Kier or the bad Kier?”

Lenore asks Kier what happened at the award show, and she says she just feels like she can’t do anything right. She starts crying again. Lenore encourages her by saying DVF trusted her enough to invite her to this event.

Kier then goes on to criticize DVF for telling her to tone down her lipstick, saying she was trying to take cues from DVF’s own words. She says maybe DVF needs to stop sticking to the same old things because she’s trying to connect to the new generation.

The contestants now have to participate in the press presentation of the new collection. Stephanie gives them a quick rundown of what they need to do, which overwhelms them. She tells them that they are serving as ambassadors for the brand.

DVF gets reports from editors on the women’s performance. The contestants don’t know the release dates or prices for items. They also talk about themselves, which they know they’re not supposed to do.  Stephanie is frustrated because she doesn’t know what else she could have done to train them.

DVF calls the girls together, saying she was daring to put the contestants with the press as they clearly don’t have experience with the press. She explains that the press are solely there to get content for their magazine, and that the contestants need to think about what they want rather than focusing on their own points of view.

She tells Tiffani that they will be meeting alone, which immediately makes her scared of being eliminated, but the other girls try to cheer her up.

DVF asks Tiffani what she wants to be in life, and Tiffani says all she knows is that she has always wanted to be in fashion. DVF says there’s something special about her, and she is willing to bet on her and her future, but she thinks she’s too young and green for this competition. DVF then proposes that

Tiffani start from the bottom at one of her retail stores.
