Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder may have gotten back together, but if they did, they definitely used Oscars weekend to go undercover and avoid the spotlight. While Ian was in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, Nina tweeted about watching the Oscars from home. However, that doesn’t deny the fact that both Nina and Ian were spotted together recently, both on-set and off-set.
While neither one of them garnered an invitation to the Oscars nor were they spotted at any Oscar parties, that doesn’t mean that they weren’t together. Sure, they weren’t together at Oscars, but that doesn’t mean that they didn’t take advantage of the hoopla surrounding the Oscars to spend some time together. Keep in mind, the Oscars are practically a week long affair, what with the predictions, the anticipation, the buzz, the awards shows, the parties, the Spirit Awards, the actual Oscars, and then followed by another set of parties and then days of people coming down from the high. That’s a lot of time that the media and paparazzi will be focused on the Oscars and post-Oscar news, taking attention away from any couplings happening elsewhere.
However, it’s likely that Nina and Ian are still in a state of stasis, much like they’ve been over the past year since their breakup. While some sources say that they’re hooking up and/or friends with benefits, other say that they’re remaining good friends and refuse to tarnish that with anything more. Either way, we won’t be able to say definitively without their confirmation.
