Anyone who watches NBC’s hit drama The Blacklist can tell you that James Spader’s character, Red Reddington, has pretty high expectations, and he definitely enjoys the finer things in life. Recent reports reveal that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and actor James Spader is just as much of a diva in real life as his character Reddington is on The Blacklist.
The October 27th edition of Star Magazine reveals that Spader is extremely high-maintenance on the set of the NBC drama. According to Star, “James freely admits he has OCD. It makes for an interesting set to say the least.” Star’s inside source went on to explain, “He has this weird thing where it bugs him out to see people eating, so when he passes by the craft-services table, the crew has to turn their backs and set down their food. He’s been known to demand whole scripts torn up and redone if he doesn’t like where they take his character.”
It sounds to us like James Spader is having a tough time breaking character, and they basically have a Red Reddington 2.0 running around The Blacklist set. In Spader’s defense, he has taken the NBC drama to critically acclaimed heights, and the series boasts impeccable ratings. We’ve seen it time and time again, actor signs on to TV show, show turns into a mega hit, and actor expects everyone to kiss the ground that he walks on. What do you think, Blacklist fans? Can you see James Spader being a total diva behind the scenes? Or are Star’s inside sources exaggerating? Let us know what you think in the comment section below!
