Oh, Kanye West. Kanye’s temper has become legendary in the past two years, not least because there’s been documented evidence of him going ballistic on anything and everything that pisses him off. And unfortunately for Radio DJs Sway and Charlemagne, what they thought was a routine radio interview turned into Kanye swearing and screaming at them.
Kanye was in town performing at University Park, Pennsylvania, and the interviewers had called Kanye ‘narcissistic’ and ‘egotistical‘ on air. I guess I have to admire their gall for calling Kanye that, knowing what he’s like, but they’re not wrong. Kanye is absolutely narcissistic and egotistical. Honestly, that’s the reason he’s so entertaining. However, anyone who gets on his bad side might not see it that way.
Although I’m surprised that Kanye even knew what narcissistic and egotistical meant, he proceeded to reply to the DJ’s comments by saying, “If I go to a radio interview, SHUT THE F*** UP!!! … Diss me, talk sh*t. What the f*** did you do? What have you done with your motherf**kin’ life, Charlemagne? Sway?”
As much as I love to dump on Kanye and his anger management issues, the radio DJs were at fault here. When you interview someone, it’s only good manners not to diss them, especially when the interview is live. Sure, Kanye could have handled it better, but he had every right to be angry and upset. There are a lot of people who are jealous of Kanye, who feel he’s not talented enough or nice enough to deserve his success – but, even then, dissing someone is never appropriate, especially when you do it right to his or her face.
