Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder Get Closer: Vampire Diaries Reconciliation: Nikki Reed Not Pleased as Nina and Ian Reach Truce

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have reached a truce on The Vampire Diaries set that involves no more Nikki Reed who is not pleased. Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have always been far too practical to let a little thing like a broken romance get in the way of their careers. Both have remained extremely professional after their off-screen romance tanked, even if they haven’t necessarily remained friends. And everything was going well until Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder started dating, when Nina could no longer ignore the fact that she and Ian were exes. I mean, it’s not easy to forget about your ex-boyfriend when he’s constantly shoving his new girlfriend in your face, you know?

To be fair to Ian, I don’t think he ever intended his relationship with Nikki to be ostentatious. He’s great at PR stunts, and he and Nikki Reed both know their relationship was getting a lot of play in the media and are taking advantage of it. But I don’t think Ian Somerhalder would ever go out of his way to rub his relationship in Nina Dobrev’s face. Unfortunately, whatever his intentions, that’s what’s happening.

For the last few months, Nina Dobrev has been on the verge of quitting The Vampire Diaries, even though the writers have done everything in their power to minimize her scenes with Ian Somerhalder in the sixth season. But alas, Nina’s barely been able to hold in her disdain for Ian’s new romance, considering that wherever she turns, she sees reminders of it. However, sources are now telling CDL exclusively that after tense negotiations for next season, Nina has tentatively agreed to consider an option for extending her contract for The Vampire Diaries Season 7. I mean, the ratings for The Vampire Diaries Season 6 haven’t been all that great recently, so at most, the CW will renew it for one or two more seasons. But after that? Nina Dobrev will be free to go about her movie career as much as she wants. For now, Nina and Ian have supposedly reached a tentative truce, but I wonder how long that will last if the two are forced into a romantic situation on-screen again. Can they keep faking it?

What do you guys think? Will the Ian Somerhalder/Nina Dobrev relationship continue causing problems for the show, and especially its renewal? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
