If there’s one thing that those Sony hacks did, it was reveal the truth about how Hollywood conducts business. There’s a lot of unprofessional behavior flying around, ironically at the highest levels of the industry. So really, it actually comes as less of a surprise that David Fincher reportedly got into a heated argument with a journalist at one such Golden Globe event. Apparently, David Fincher was spotted in a heated ‘exchange’ with The Wrap’s Sharon Waxman at the back of the theater in the Beverly Hilton during the awards show.
There is apparently a long-standing feud between David Fincher and Sharon Waxman over a book that Waxman wrote, and David was heard telling Waxman, “Let me answer!”
Is Page Six sure that this was an argument or a ‘heated exchange’, in their own words? It sounds a lot like regular business being conducted to me, especially knowing what we know about how these industry bigwigs speak to each other on a regular basis. Then again, if David Fincher and Sharon Waxman actually have been embroiled in a public feud over some time, then it makes sense that they would have a confrontation at the Golden Globe Awards, of all places.
Fincher was there to represent his latest movie, Gone Girl, while Sharon Waxman would have been there as part of the media covering the awards show. However, Waxman has enough clout and enough power that she wouldn’t have to kowtow to David’s every request, which is probably frustrating for him. After all, there are very few things on this planet that David Fincher doesn’t get if he wants them, and apparently one of those things is getting Sharon Waxman to listen to him.
