'General Hospital' Spoilers: Rebecca Budig's New Character Breaks Up Liz and Jake - Will Ric or Spinelli Expose Jason First?

Check out these “General Hospital” spoilers and gossip for the hit ABC soap for Thursday, March 12. First off, in “General Hospital” casting news, it’s been confirmed that Michael Easton has renewed his contract and will stick around Port Charles as Dr. Silas Clay. This makes sense as Silas just diagnosed Ava Jerome (Maura West) with advanced Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. His contract renewal will allow GH writers to fully explore this story line.

Remember Silas told Ava that Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin), Julian Jerome (William deVry) and the other donors he tested for Danny Morgan’s cancer aren’t a match for her. “General Hospital” rumors have it that Kiki may not be Ava’s daughter at all but Nina Clay’s (Michelle Stafford) raised as her own. But since Ava herself was surprised that Kiki wasn’t a match, there may be even more to this.

Could Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) – Nina’s mom – have swapped babies and Ava has another kid out there even though Kiki isn’t here? Remember Madeline and her evil sister Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) had a whole baby swapping thing so there’s a family history of exchanging babies and not telling the kids until they’re grown. This will be one to watch.

And as you may know from other “General Hospital” gossip, Rebecca Budig is headed to Port Charles. There has been talk that she will take on the role of Robin Scorpio Drake last played by Kimberly McCullough. Since Kimberly is booked up directing episodes for the CW’s Pretty Little Liars, it makes sense GH show runners would have to replace McCullough if they want to bring Robin back.

So while there has been buzz that Budig would revive Robin, a new “General Hospital” rumor indicates that Rebecca Budig will instead play an all-new character whose sole purpose is to get between Jake Doe (Billy Miller) and Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) as Liz tries to develop this new relationship despite Ric Lansing’s (Rick Hearts) protests.

Look for Ric to team up with big brother Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) to dig up dirt on Jake since neither one likes that their ladies are digging on the new dude in town. And, here’s where it gets fun. You know Ric was always terribly jealous of the relationship between Jason Morgan and Sonny since Sonny saw Jason as more of a brother than he ever did Ric.

Rumors indicate that Ric may figure out who Jake really is before Sonny does and may encourage Sonny (or someone else) to get rid of him before Sonny learns that his BFF is back from the dead and reconciles with him. But since things never, ever, ever work out for Ric, Sonny will discover what he’s up to and this will put he and Ric on the outs again and ruin whatever brotherly bonds they had built.

This week also look for Jake to hit up Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) and get her to get him hired onto her dad Julian’s mob crew. Jake has to land a gig with Julian to uphold his secret deal with Commissioner Sloane (Grayson McCouch) but wasn’t sure how to get started until Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) recommended he use Sam as an entry point.

And speaking of Sam, she was with The Jackal aka Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and he recognized Jason from the back when he saw Jake standing with Carly and Liz at the hospital. He says it’s Stone Cold but everyone will tell him he’s crazy. He’s not and it may well be a race between Spinelli and Ric to get to the bottom of who Jake is first. If Ric wins it, Jason could end up losing more than just his memory…
