According to reports, Harvey Weinstein has been accused of sexual assault after he allegedly groped a 22-year-old Italian model at the Tribeca Film Festival last Friday. There have been a lot of sleazy rumors surrounding Harvey Weinstein for many years now, but he’s always managed to escape legal notice – until now.
The model [who is still unnamed] went to the police and told them that Harvey Weinstein groped her breasts and between her legs, and it’s now on the Manhattan District Attorney to decide whether to file charges against Harvey.
For those who don’t know, Harvey Weinstein is married [to fashion designer Georgina Chapman], even though that doesn’t make a difference – sexual assault is sexual assault. According to the allegations, Harvey was the one who initiated contact with the woman, and then asked her if her breasts were real after groping them. The model reportedly asked Harvey to stop immediately, and then went and filed a complaint with the police. The police then reportedly interrogated Harvey Weinstein about the woman’s accusations, but we don’t know anything else.
To be honest, there have been so many rumors about Harvey Weinstein’s untoward behavior towards actresses – especially up and coming actresses who suddenly start landing film deals after ‘hanging out’ with Harvey Weinstein or going ‘under his wing’ – that this is very easy to believe.
Ken Sunshine (good name for a PR rep!), Harvey Weinstein’s rep released a statement Tuesday: “We are cooperating fully with the authorities, and are confident that we will be fully vindicated. We will have no further comment.”
