Kate Middleton has finally returned to making public appearances, thanks to Queen Elizabeth putting her foot down, and the Duchess of Cambridge is doing everything she can to hide her unhappy marriage. The royal couple attended the opening of the Rugby World Cup, and while Kate had a non-stop smile painted on her face, Prince William was clearly tired of the royal drama.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge sat in the stands of Twickenham Stadium in London attempting to prove to the world that all is well, despite the numerous reports of their unhappy marriage and crumbling relationship. Kate smiled and laughed as photographers captured images of the couple watching the match. The Duchess was constantly trying to engage Prince William in chatting or sharing a sweet moment in front of the cameras, but Prince William would politely smile and brush her off.
Kate and William have had a rough year in regards to their marriage. In September of 2014, the royal couple separated as the Duchess was pregnant with Princess Charlotte. Prince William didn’t see Kate for nearly a month, before Queen Elizabeth, likely fearing a divorce and royal scandal, intervened.
The two were forced back into their relationship, and Kate Middleton’s moves for power continued. Carole Middleton moved in Anmer Hall after Princess Charlotte was born and took over. Kate began controlling Prince William’s every move; declining numerous invites for trips and parties with William’s friends. The March of the Middletons and their royal revolution steamrolled on, before Queen Elizabeth out-maneuvered Kate and Carole Middleton.
Prince William is caught in the middle of the royal drama; pulled between pleasing the Queen and keeping up appearances with Kate. Baby rumors swirled claiming Kate is pregnant again, but were quickly squashed and followed with allegations Kate and William were fighting over of how many children they wanted to have. There might be an iota of reality in that, as the Duchess knows her value to the monarchy is having royal babies. Kate Middleton’s pregnancies simultaneously boost the economy and interest in the royals, but put a strain on the royal couple’s already shaky marriage.
Kate Middleton and Prince William have pulled off another show of unity, but William isn’t nearly as dedicated as the Duchess. After Carole Middleton, Kate’s mother and trusted ally, was banished from the Duchess’ life, it appears Princess Kate will bend to the Queen’s demands…for now. Never underestimate the Middleton family, who are likely already orchestrating their next move.
