Kate Middleton is caught in a battle between Carole Middleton and the royal family. The Duchess of Cambridge is mortified by Queen Elizabeth’s behavior when she is around the Middleton family, as Carole Middleton is walking a fine line between trying to elevate herself and refusing to pander to royalty.
It’s no surprise that the birth of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana has caused such a royal ruckus. Her name favors the Queen, but pays homage to Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana. Kate Middleton’s baby girl name also shuts out Camilla Parker-Bowles, who is still trying to get away from her stigma as “The Other Woman.”
Beyond Princess Charlotte’s name, the Queen and Prince Charles are fed up with Carole Middleton’s constant presence. The Middleton family spent ample amounts of time with Prince George, which irks Prince Charles and undermines the royal family factor, but Queen Elizabeth was fuming after Carole and Pippa Middleton met Princess Charlotte before she did. Star magazine claims that the Queen “rushed” to Kensington Palace to meet the new royal baby, but was livid when she discovered Carole Middleton already holding her great-granddaughter. Queen Elizabeth had Carole and Pippa “removed” from her sight, and the Duchess was mortified.
Carole Middleton is walking a fine line. Kate’s mother seems to enjoy standing up to the Queen, but the Middleton’s are about elevating themselves. The same can be said for the Middleton’s relationship with Prince Charles and Camilla, but they are the future of the monarchy and have a lot of pull over the Middleton’s status.
Kate’s mother appears to be standing here ground, regardless. Kate Middleton and Prince William are trying to give Prince George and Princess Charlotte a “normal” childhood, but Queen Elizabeth wants to see the royal couple’s children growing up with a sense of royalty, so they will know what is expected of them in the future. Queen Elizabeth is growing increasingly upset with the “lack of royal deference” in her grandchildren, fearing the Middleton family is to blame.
Maybe Carole Middleton is just a protective mother and grandmother, but she is on thin ice after making it clear that her “first priority” is making sure her daughter and granddaughter are happy. If what royal insiders say is true, Carole will do what is best for Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte rather than trying to please the Queen and isn’t backing down.
What do you think? Is Carole Middleton being underhanded or just trying to secure a place in her grandchildren’s future? Any bets on how long Queen Elizabeth will tolerate the Middleton’s before more royal drama ensues? Let us know in the comment section below.
