Thousands of fans and supporters gathered by the hospital and began cheering when the announcement was made. Update (20:42 EDT) – Kate Middleton and Prince William along with their new unnamed royal baby girl left private Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s hospital Saturday evening (local time). Kate had only arrived at hospital less than 13 hours before in the early stages of labor. Now safely back home in their apartments at Kensington Palace the royal family will decide when to make an official announcement of the new baby girl’s name. Prince George was officially names two days after he was born in 2013 so if we expect a similar protocol then we will learn the royal baby girl’s name Monday! In the meanwhile London bookies who take bets on the name show Charlotte as favorite in the lead followed by Alice – which name are you rooting for? CDL will continue to update this post as more information on the new baby birth becomes available!

Update (Sunday 11:25 EDT) With Kate Middleton and her new royal baby girl safely at home at Kensington Palace the royals enjoyed a day of rest and welcoming important visitors. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles stopped by to greet the youngest new heir to the British throne along with Carole and Pippa Middelton. Of course proud grandfather Michael Middleton showed up as well but arrived separately from his wife and daughter, probably planning not to stay as long.

Queen Elizabeth and The Duke of Edinborough, Prince Philip, did not come to London for the birth and attended church today at St. Mary Magdalene on her majesty’s Norfolk Sandringham Estate. Later this week Princess Kate and her two children are expected to move to Anmer Hall, also on the Sandringham Estate, where it is presumed The Queen will met the new royal baby. One visits The Queen!

As far as naming the new baby we expect that Monday, May 4 will bring some news – little Prince George’s name was released two days after his birth. Come back to CDL where we will have updates on all things royal baby!
