Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan Boast Acting Chops In New 'Life' Trailer: The Role To Revitalize R-Pattz's Career? (VIDEO)

Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan star in Life together, and the film just premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. As such, the first clip from the movie has made its way online, and we can already tell it’s gonna be a big one for Robert Pattinson’s career. Sure, he’s worked with auteurs and experienced directors since his stint as a sparkling vampire on the Twilight Saga came to an end, but I think this is the first time he’s been matched with an actor that’s his age that’s actually competent.

‘Life’ is about the friendship between James Dean and Life Magazine photographer Dennis Stock, with Dane DeHaan playing James Dean and Robert Pattinson playing Dennis Stock. Rob has gone on the record mentioning that he prefers taking supporting roles in films nowadays, and from the clip, it definitely seems like he’s playing second fiddle to Dane – at least, in terms of pure screen presence. However, the clip in itself also shows off a different side of Rob – not just acting ability, but in terms of physical appearance. He’s sporting darker hair than he normally does, and he also has a New York accent. Plus, we’re so used to seeing him look like a hobo or a malnourished vampire than it’s hard to move past our image of him, and see him as an authentic New Yorker. To be fair, his accent is not bad, no?

Overall, if this movie does well, it could be a huge boon to Rob’s career. He’s had very few hits outside of the Twilight movies, and although his movies with David Cronenberg have been very well received, they haven’t been financially successful at all.

What do you guys think about Robert Pattinson and Dane DeHaan starring together in ‘Life’, and the first clip from the film? The clip is short, but it does show James Dean expressing concern about how ‘Hollywood’ Dennis Stock is becoming. It also happens to be a central plot point, and also a good showcase for both actors.
