The Affair Recap 11/1/15: Season 2 Episode 5 Recap Begins Here!

When Allison and Noah first moved into a publisher friend’s guesthouse, Allison had felt a tad apprehensive about staying on at the house if Noah wasn’t there as well. Yet that was before she had gotten a job Yvonne. So she thought that maybe things wouldn’t be so awkward what with her now earning her keep.

And it wasn’t for a while. But then Noah’s son started to have stomach pains again and it turns out he really needed his father by his sister. So Noah has been spending the last couple of weeks since Helen’s incident in the city and that has also left Allison somewhat adrift.

She had been wrapped up in a bubble with Noah and she didn’t know how to carry on like normal without him there. Though what’s making particularly hard on Allison was that her relationship with Yvonne suddenly changed. They started off on friendly terms and then overnight it was like Yvonne didn’t even want to be around Alison. And so Allison believes that their relationship might have changed because of Noah’s book.

The other woman had begun reading Noah’s book after she asked him if she could critique it and he was all for getting a pair of fresh eyes. And apparently Yvonne didn’t like the Allison she came to read about. So her behavior towards Allison changed and then one day Yvonne didn’t even bother to tell her she was fired. She just had her husband pass on the news that she was no longer welcomed up at the house.

Therefore Allison felt she needed to know what Noah wrote about her. And that’s why she snuck back up to the house to read the manuscript on Yvonne’s desk.

Allison didn’t think it was going to be all that bad but the glimpses she saw ended up ruining her mood anyways. Noah had written her as a femme fatale. He claimed she was sex on legs and that she had practically seduced him with her wanton wiles. Yet that’s not how Allison had seen herself or their relationship.

So Allison had needed to talk with him afterwards and she went into the city to see him. Nevermind that he had told/warned her that she couldn’t be around his kids – she just walked right up to the front door of the family brownstone and rang the bang. And so she happened to run into Helen.

Helen who by the way claimed not to have seen Noah and who also felt generous enough to give Allison some frank talk. She told her that Noah was always great in the beginning of the relationship but then after a while he somehow put all of his failures onto another person. Just to avoid responsibility.

So that last part resonated with Allison the most.

Yet she chose him and now he’s all she has left. Meanwhile Cole her former husband was doing his best to put his life back together.

Cole had laid off the drugs and he had become interested in the opposite sex again. First he accepted a woman’s offer to come by her place for some afternoon delight. And though that didn’t work out because of her husband’s untimely arrival – Cole was able to laugh it off.

However he couldn’t ignore his brother Scotty forever. Scotty had gone behind his back to talk to a realtor about Allison’s house and he hadn’t even informed the realtor that technically the house wasn’t in his name. So there was a very confused woman that showing around the house to buyers because she didn’t know who Cole was.

And despite later speaking to his brother, Cole simply could not get the younger man to understand what he did was wrong. Scotty saw a make money quick scheme and there was nothing that his brother could say that would have convinced him otherwise. So Cole didn’t bother sticking around.

Instead he offered another person that was angry at Scotty a ride to their job. Her name was Luisa and she and Cole just kept on running into each other. So eventually the made proper introductions and it looked like Cole might have made a connection with someone.

But then Allison came back to the house. She wasn’t sorry for herself because she didn’t think she was a good person and so Cole was there for her. He talked her into calming down and one thing merely led to another.

They slept together and at the point they didn’t know what it meant. Though fast-forward a couple of years and its Helen paying for Noah’s attorney while Cole has somehow developed a Lockhart empire in his hometown.
