#LastShip begins with Sean talking about Americans taking refuge in a shopping mall. He says the 5% of immunes are the chosen ones and Ned says it’s an act but Sean says he’s not. Ned wants to go after the Nathan James but Sean says the submarine needs repairs. Sean says he has a plan and Ned says it’s a shit plan going around infecting people and looking for people like them. Ned says he hates it.

He wants to go back to the UK and live their lives. Ned also rants about Neil still being with them. He says he’s like the Grim Reaper and creeps people out. Sean say he’s got the talent they need and says he helps them by breathing on people and infecting them so they can find the immunes. Rachel tells Tom and Mike her lab is low on everything and she’s almost out of material to make the vaccines.

Mike says searching for the sub will tax all their fuel. Rachel says chasing it is keeping them off their mission. Tom asks where they should go and slaps a map in front of her. He says Phoenix, Salt Lake, Madison, Topeka, Baltimore, all gone. He says Florida and all of it is gone. Rachel says she’s fully aware and is trying to figure out why and how it happened. She says they need to stay on course to save millions of lives from this thing.

Tom is stubborn and says the sub is the mission now. He walks out saying we’ll find the people who did it and make them pay. Oliver and Maz are laughing and joking on the sub. Another yells at them to keep looking for the ship and calls them slackers. The others sass him and grudgingly go back to work. Alisha says she has a message that was transmitted right before the labs were destroyed. She plays the video. It’s Dr Hunter and he says they’re under attack.

He says he found something from the measles project that will help and says it all worked out. He says he has a file with data and says to get it off the server. But then the men are there and shoot the doc in the head. Tom and Mike watch and Mike says Dr Hunter’s info revealed the locations. She says Hunter had the information to make powder that could be spread like crop dusting and could be accomplished without the infrastructure they’ve lost.

She says they need to get to his lab in Florida. Tom says it’s too much of a long shot and they have bigger fish. Rachel says he’s just after revenge and he says those men had an Irish accent. Mike says that means that the sub guys also have men on the ground. Rachel wonders how they found Hunter’s lab. She says it was hidden on the secure server. Tom says it doesn’t matter how they found them. Rachel asks if he’s forgotten that they are tasked to find the cure, save the world. Tom glares.

Tom and the group are at Hunter’s lab in Florida like Rachel wanted. They find dead scientists all over, executed in cold blood. They work room to room clearing the site. Wolf radios they have more dead docs in the East wing. Tom says it’s what they expected. Rachel comes in and sees her mentor dead on the floor with a bullet hole in his head. She kneels and tears up and says he was a giant and the smartest man she knew. They tell her that Hunter’s office was shot up and his computers smashed.

She wipes her eyes and says she found the cultures so they can keep making the cure for now. She points out a box and says to check it. Tom asks if they found links to the sub and his guys tell him there are muddy tracks to follow. Tom tells them that finding those guys and helping Rachel is the same mission. Jeter cautions him not to let the sub become his white whale. He sends Wolf to find a vehicle so they can tail the killers.

Rachel snaps photos of the white boards and tells Tom when he finds them please kill them. Tom, Wolf, Danny, Tex and Ravit ride in pursuit. Wolf points something out and they stop. The trail ends at an airboat dock in the Everglades. Tom calls in for an air sweep to see if the land team is hiding in the swamp. Sean paces while Ned shows up with beer. Neil rides up on a bicycle and says he loves this town. He says southern hospitality is true.

He says he met nice people who gave him sweet tea and says he met the local sheriff who told him they’re all in this together. Ned asks how long until they’re dead. Neil says he’s quite contagious, so not too long. Neil tells Ned that he passed a department store and says he saw clothes that would fit them so the sub would smell better. Ned rants at Sean and says he’s afraid to go home and afraid of the destroyer so they’re stuck there. Sean puts a knife in his face and tells him to say again he’s afraid.

Sean says he’s culling the herd and the pure can join them. He says those that refuse to join will die along with the crew of the ship. He tells Ned he can help or join their beloved mother in the grave. Ned quivers and says he wonders if Beyonce is immune. He says it’s possible with the 5% and all and says she’d look good on his arm. Sean sheathes his knife and hugs his brother. Neil watches the whole exchange with interest.

Danny says St Augustine is closest but is dark. They wonder if they went inland North or South. Kara says you’d think they’d get a heat signature from a gator or something and Mike says they’re cold blooded – says his kid taught him that. Mike gets a heat signature and radios Mike. He says 23 miles North/Northwest. Tom says they’re en route now and hop on a boat to pursue. Rachel is in the lab talking about making a stable, dry formulation.

Milowsky wonders if Hunter never solved it but Rachel says he solved it and gave his life to tell her. Tom and the gang dock their boat and split up to find their marks. They hear voices in the distance. They spot a campground that looks like a safe zone. They hear a truck and take cover. They head into a warehouse and hear radio chatter. They hear a foreign language being spoken. Tom says there are some mercenaries from the Solace talking to the sub right now.

Tom radios Mike who has the crew start looking for it and they find the encrypted signal and start decrypting it. Ravit says they can take them but Tom wants to wait and see where the mercs leads them.

Rachel is exhausted and Bacon comes to bring her some food. She thanks him. He says he made it for the President and he says it’s an art. He says the secret is sifting the flour just right and you do it right and you have a nice rich sauce. He says not too soupy, not too thick. That inspires Rachel and she says she needs a food base for the micro powder. She goes to her white board, writes something and thanks him profusely. She runs out without tasting it.

Tex plays with some kids at the camp and thanks some of the others for the clothes they gave him. He was blending. He goes back to tell Tom that they are friendly and it’s like a love in. He says they’re all Americans. Danny pulls back up in a truck and says he commandeered it. Danny says they’re loading up and heading out. They see that the people are getting on buses to go somewhere. Tom, Ravit and Burk go for the bus while the others will follow in the truck.

They change into civvies and get in line for the bus. They are searched and allowed on. Tom sits by Janine who says her whole family is dead, husband and four kids. He says he’s sorry then says he lost his wife. She says now he found us then says they found her and she didn’t know there were others like us. He asks how many and she says Sean says there are millions. She says not to let the fancy accent fool you, he’s just like us. He says he wants to meet him and she says that’s where they’re headed.

Rachel has Bacon working in the lab with she and Milowsky. He suggests a corn base and she says it’s worth a shot then asks Bacon what they have. He says she lost him and she asks at what point and he says two hours ago. Rachel decides to start with a flour base. Danny and Wolf tell Mike they have a visual confirmation on the bus. Alisha says the sub is communicating with someone on land and the sub is holding still at radio depth. They triangulate to try and find the sub.

Mike says they can’t get closer without tipping their hand. They calculate a vector plot between them and the sub. Ned talks to the sub and asks if they found the Nathan James. The sub says he’s heading back based on what Sean says. Ned says not to listen and says they’re going to sink it. Mike says they have one shot at the sub. They ping a sonar but they get no active contact. They tell them that whatever is transmitting it’s on the surface. It may be a buoy.

Mike says if they can’t use it, they can make sure they can’t talk and they decide to blow the buoy. Kara fires and Ned loses contact with the sub. Alisha confirms the radio signal is dead. Ned curses in frustration. Wolf jumps out of the back of the truck as they near the site where the school buses are pulling up. Tex and Danny tell Wolf to meet them at the rally point since they’re being routed into the service entrance.

On the James, Jeter checks the guns while Rachel shows up and asks for word. He tells her they’re in the swamps of Central Florida. He says he hopes they get back safe and they can put this vendetta behind them. Rachel says they always make it back then shows him a cornstarch vaccine. She says now she has to build a machine to manufacture it and hopes he can loan her a couple of machinists. Wolf and Danny hide their guns and pull up to the check point.

Danny says howdy and the guy asks where they came from. Wolf says Pompano Beach and they exchange pleasantries and gain entry. Ravit joins the crowd. Tom and Burk notice that the place is like a fortress. One of the men walks among them talking about how they are immune and are the chosen ones. Tom tells Burk he recognizes the voice from Hunter’s lab. He says these are the guys. The man gets the crowd riled up about being warriors.

Wolf talks to the ship and updates them and Mike asks for an exfiltration plan. Wolf spots a guy nearby and has to move on. Sean greets the crowd of immunes who treat him like a benevolent and beloved leader. He says there are more of them arriving every hour. He says they will have a thousand by week’s end. They all cheer. Ned lurks nearby. Sean reads off the other locations and numbers and says they are spreading their message across the country. He calls them his beloved immunes.

Neil tells Ned he found 320 immune to his disease at the mall. Ned calls him creepy and walks away. Ned comes to the stage and Tom recognizes him and moves to stand behind others so Ned can’t see him. Sean says he’s a humble messenger spreading gospel and says if America is to rise again it needs a true leader. They beg him to lead them but he says they need an American leader, someone who has their blood and their spirit.

They show a video of a guy named Jeffrey Michener as they hand out American flags. Michener is there and Sean says he shares their special gift while the rest of the government died out. Sean says Michener is #12 in order of Presidential succession according to the Constitution and with the others gone, he’s the US President. Sean says when they get to New Orleans, they will install him in office so he can show the world that America is back and has a new President.

He stands hand in hand with Michener who smiles broadly. Ned comes out and asks what Sean is talking about. Sean says he told him he has a plan. Tom looks at the screaming flag wavers and their smiling faces with worry. They’re all zealots. He looks at Michener down front smiling wickedly.
