Zayn Malik admitted that he does not like One Direction’s music and that he is really happy to be moving forward in his solo career. The former 1D band member opened up in a recent interview with Fader. Malik spilled secrets about his decision to leave One Direction, who he still speaks too in the group and his breakup with Perrie Edwards.
The former One Direction member Zayn Malik made a huge confession during his Fader interview. Malik admitted that he really doesn’t like One Direction’s music. The now-solo artist said that he doesn’t listen to or enjoy the style that he had been forced to perform so he finally just left.
As a matter of fact, Zayn Malik told the magazine, “By the time I decided to go, it just felt right on that day. I woke up on that morning, if I’m being completely honest with you, and was like, ‘I need to go home. I just need to be me now, because I’ve had enough.”
Of course the rumors surrounding Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction were all centered around with his relationship with Little Mix singer Perrie Edwards. Zayn says his decision to leave One Direction had nothing to do with Perrie despite reports that Edwards told Malik that he had to choose between her and the boy band.
Good thing too because Zayn and Perrie Edwards broke up not long after he left the group.
As far as the rest of the guys in the group, Zayn said they aren’t close. Since leaving One Direction, Zayn Malik said that he’s only talked to one member of the boy band and it was pretty recent. Zayn left One Direction in March 2015 so you’d think someone would have called him up by now. It turns out it was Zayn who called Liam Payne just a couple weeks ago.
It’s been roughly nine months since Zayn Malik left One Direction in order to start a solo career. When Zayn went solo, he was signed almost immediately and there are rumors of an album on the horizon.
Malik teased a bit of what his album might sound like in his Fader interview and it’s definitely way different than anything One Direction has released.
Like Zayn Malik said, once people hear his solo music, they will understand exactly why he said that he just isn’t into the One Direction sound and he had to branch out and make a solo album.
