Abby Lee Miller Faces Money Laundering Charges – Dance Moms Star Headed to Jail?

Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller is slated to face a tough court appearance next Monday in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on charges of bankruptcy fraud and failure to report more than $10,000 in Australian currency she brought into the United States.

This isn’t the first time Lifetime’s Dance Moms bully Abby Lee Miller has had problems with the Federal government. Last October, Abby Lee Miller was accused of illegally trying to hide $775,000 of income from Lifetime shows in her Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Abby pleaded not guilty but on Monday, federal prosecutors piled more legal troubles on to Abby’s plate by adding a currency reporting charge. They are asking that Abby pay at least $120,000 in restitution.

It’s unclear whether the amount being requested is more or less than what Abby allegedly failed to report back in August 2014. Abby Lee Miller issued a statement to ET through her attorney .

Miller’s statement reveals that her life has been difficult and things have been tough on her and those in her life. Abby Lee stated, “I made the very difficult decision to close the door on this chapter of my life by accepting responsibility for mistakes I have made along the way.”

Abby’s attorney didn’t mention whether Miller would plead guilty to all, some, or none of the charges filed against her. When she’s referring to “closing the door” on this chapter of her life, Abby Lee Miller appears to be talking about the criminal case and not Lifetime hit show Dance Moms.

Then again, it’s hard for Dance Moms fans to know what Abby Lee Miller really means. On the Lifetime reality show, Abby is often very mean, almost nasty to her dance students and others in her studio.

Abby is known for her unpredictable behavior towards parents of her dance team members, rival team coaches and even the production staff on Dance Moms. Abby has been particularly erratic on the most recent season of Dance Moms.

When Abby’s legal drama bled over into the show, Miller was often seen unkempt, sleeping in her office, hiding in her car to binge on junk food, and flying off the handle at seemingly innocuous incidents.

As part of Abby’s official statement from her representatives, she thanked everyone for their kind messages of support. Abby said she’s looking forward to putting this behind her and getting back to “helping young dancers fulfill their potential.”

Last December, before the premiere of Dance Moms Season 6, ET spoke with Abby and asked her how she deals with challenges, Abby said, “My parents taught me… ‘Hey, you go back in there tomorrow and you put your chin up in the air and do this, that and the other thing and you ignore those people.’”

Perhaps in this instance, Abby was referring to federal prosecutors as those to ignore since that interview took place just after prosecutors starting digging into Miller’s finances – but that doesn’t seem like a strategy that will work out for too long.

What do you think of Abby Lee Miller’s latest legal scandal? Will the Dance Moms star plead guilty to any of the charges she’s facing? Do you think Abby Lee will go to jail?
