There has been a lot of talk about Axl Rose replacing Brian Johnson for AC/DC’s remaining ten American tour dates. No one has actually confirmed Axl replacing Brian, but it seems Axl has been rehearsing with the iconic rock band.
A picture speaks a thousand words, right? If that’s the case, then TMZ’s photo of Axl leaving the studio followed shortly thereafter by members of AC/DC speaks volumes. Or should we say, sings volumes?
Brian’s hearing problems have apparently sidelined the rock singer. This caused the band to announce the postponement of ten American tour dates. The official word posted on AC/DC’s website reads, “AC/DC To Reschedule Upcoming U.S. Tour Dates. Singer Brian Johnson Advised by Doctors To Discontinue Touring.”
Why does everyone think Axl is replacing Brian? It begins in Atlanta where AC/DC postponed the first show on the ten stop tour. Axl was reportedly spotted in Atlanta while the band was holding auditions. Then the GNR Truth message boards lit up with a post labeled, “RUMOR: Axl temp singer for AC/DC.”
There’s a lot of controversy surrounding the speculation. Brian revealed in an interview that his hearing problems were “exaggerated by AC/DC” and he felt “kicked to the curb.”
Thousands upon thousands of fans are unhappy that the rockers are going to replace Brian, even if it is temporarily. The question is, why bring in a major name like Axl Rose if the band only needs a replacement frontman? Fans are flooding AC/DC’s Facebook page saying that the band is nothing without Brian. No Brian, no AC/DC.
The same thing was said nearly 40 years ago when lead singer Bon Scott died from alcohol poisoning. Five months after Bon Scott’s death, the band returned to the studio recording Back In Black with Brian as the lead singer. It was the most successful album in AC/DC’s history.
Is Axl Rose replacing AC/DC singer Brian Johnson temporarily or are founding members Angus Young and Malcom Young trying to push Brian out of the band after 36 years?
