Making A Murderer: Steven Avery Demands Mistrial in Teresa Halbach Case - Calls Out Own Lawyer, A Juror, Files Appeal

Steven Avery has become a Netflix phenom with the Making A Murderer series and he’s upping the ante with his newly filed appeal in the Teresa Halbach case where he has called out one juror in particular as well as his own lawyer. And this time, Steven Avery is representing himself.

In case you are somehow not familiar with Steven Avery or the Making A Murderer show, (don’t worry, we won’t judge you…much), I will fill in the gap a bit. Back in 1985, Steven Avery was convicted of a viscous sexual crime, but almost 20 years later, all spent in prison, he was exonerated after some DNA evidence surfaced and it cleared him and while convicting someone else of that crime.

He was officially released from prison in 2003. Well, in 2005, he allegedly killed photographer, Teresa Halbach. He was the last person to see her alive and there were multiple pieces of evidence convicting Steven Avery of Halbach’s murder. His trial didn’t even start until 2007, but he was back in prison following his conviction that year and has remained behind bars since that time.

TMZ is now reporting that the convicted murderer has now filed an appeal that is requesting the judge to overturn his conviction of the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach. What on earth makes him think that a judge would do that? Well, Steven Avery has a lot of time on his hands behind those prison walls to think up stuff.

He is saying that the jurors that convicted him were tainted thanks to the lip service of one juror in particular who allegedly made comments saying that Avery was “f***ing* guilty” as well as saying, “If you can’t handle it why don’t you tell them [the judge] and just leave.”

He doesn’t stop there either folks! He is also claiming that the original search that produced the evidence that put him back in prison was illegal. Citing that the search that was conducted to find said evidence had exceeded the limits set forth by the issued warrant.

He’s even going as far as to say that the vehicle that evidence was found in wasn’t sealed with tamper-proof tape, and that it allowed the police to open and close the doors at free will while enabling them to plant evidence against him, particularly his blood.

To round out his lengthy appeal, he is even claiming that his lawyer at the time of the trial represented him incompetently. Those are really, really bold words. But Steven Avery means every word of it and he wants a mistrial declared by the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.

Wow. This just keeps getting more twisted and absurd! I honestly don’t even know what to think at this point. There are so many opinions floating around social media. Some think he’s innocent. Some naturally think he’s guilty as charged. So many think Making a Murderer is one of the saddest things they have ever watched and talk of the corruption of the justice system. What say you, CDL readers? We would love your take on all of this craziness. Share you opinion in the comments below!
