It seems like ages ago that dueling divas Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were forced to work side by side on FOX’s American Idol as judges….but Mariah Carey certainly hasn’t forgotten about the horrible experience. And, she seems to have ripped off the bandaid on her and Nicki Minaj’s old battle wounds, reigniting the messy feud between them.
As you all know, Mariah Carey’s new reality TV series ‘Mariah’s World’ is set to debut soon. Carey recently appeared at the 2016 Television Critics Association Summer Tour to promote the new reality TV series, and she sat on a panel and answered reporter’s questions. It wasn’t long before someone brought up her stint on American Idol in 2013.
Mariah Carey did not want to talk about the controversial season of American Idol, which she appeared on with her rival Nicki Minaj. Mariah groaned, “Ughh that was the most abusive experience. By the way you have just driven me to drink.”
So, who is Mariah Carey accusing of abusing? FOX or her co-judge Nicki Minaj? Anyone who watched that season of Idol knows that Mariah and Nicki’s tension on the singing competition was almost unbearable to watch, and the two women had nothing nice to say to each other. Nicki Minaj snapped at Mariah on live television more than one occasion, and the feuding and shade between the two women lasted for months after the season ended.
Calling Nicki Minaj “abusive” seems like a pretty desperate attempt to reignite her old feud with Nicki, ironically just in time for her new reality TV show. Mariah Carey is no rookie to show business, she knows that there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and getting everyone talking about her and Mina again will be the perfect publicity for “Mariah’s World.”
