#RideWithNormanReedus tonight goes to Death Valley on a trip from Las Vegas. Norman says Vegas is a place where you can get lost. He says this place is an adrenaline rush all the time. He cranks his bike and drives away from the iconic Welcome to Las Vegas sign.

He says he’s traveled all over the world and says the bright lights and city hum is part of him and he’s never been to the desert. He says his friend Balthazar Getty loves the desert and wants to go to Death Valley with him.

He says they’ll drive 120 miles West to reach Death Valley but first they’ll hang in Vegas. Norman meets Balthazar at Peppermill Restaurant – a diner that’s been in several Vegas movies. He talks about how long he’s known Balthazar and says he’s a hard working guy.

They talk about how long they’ve known each other and admit it’s too long. Balthazar says Norman wasn’t acting back then – he just worked at a motorcycle shop back then. Norman says he’s never been to Death Valley and Balthazar says he shot Lost Highway there with David Lynch.

Balthazar talks about how deserts are very introspective and talks about going to Joshua Tree to expand his mind. He says they’ll hit the road in the morning. Norman says he’s got some girls meeting them to ride out to the desert.

Norman says there’s a thriving biker scene in Vegas, but away from the strip. They are both on Ducatis for the trip. He says he and Balt have the same gear. They point out famous landmarks and Norman says the needle makes him scared and wants to throw up.

Balt talks about being scared on the Empire State Building and says they told him Tom Cruise was hanging off the edge. Norman says TC made you look like a f-ing b-tch. They go to Sosa’s Metal Works. He talks about Christian Sosa and his futuristic designs make him important.

There’s a yearlong wait for one of his bikes. He says he builds from raw materials but designs as he goes so people can’t order a certain style. Norman sits on one of his unique designs. Christian shows them his antique machinery.

He lets Norman use his hammer machine tools. He talks about Christian Sosa being old-school and says he lets the bike come to him as he builds and is thrilled to meet him. Norman thanks Christian for letting them come by.

The head to the Strip that night. Balthazar points out the Plaza and they talk about going to a Zombie Burlesque show. It’s weird. Then they go backstage and talk to the performers. They tell him their producer loves The Walking Dead and it’s a huge inspiration.

Norman hugs all the performers and snaps pic with them. In the morning, they ride out. They head West out of Vegas heading for Pahrump in the desert. Norman talks about the vastness of the Mojave desert and how it was part of an ancient sea long ago.

Balt says it’s nice to be out of the city. Norman says the emptiness gets into hour head. They stop at a biker bar called Mountain Springs Saloon. The owner is Lead Feather. It’s a barbecue joint and he serves them up pulled pork.

He says he used to cook for the Cheetah strip club. They head into the saloon. There’s money all over stapled to the walls. They sit down at gambling machines to play poker and blackjack. Norman wins and gives the winnings to a nearby couple to cover their tab.

They head out to get their barbecue. They dig in and ask for his secret recipe. Lead says there’s 24 ingredients in the sauce and it’s not too sweet, not too spicy. Norman hogs out like a wild animal. Balt says that might be the best barbecue ever.

The guys are on Route 160 in Nevada and says it’s all boulders and brothels and you can get lost easily. They weave off road and talk about how popular dirt biking is here. He says Balt rides dirt bikes often and knows a great place.

They go see Jimmy Lewis, a dirt riding champion who now runs a biking school. He gets them on some high-performance dirt bikes. They go gear up before they get started. They look at peacock walking around and Jimmy says it’s the school mascot.

They head for some trails. They pop wheelies and do all sort of stuff out in the desert. Jimmy gives Norman a wheelie lesson. Norman drops his pants and lets his junks cool off. The guys race Jimmy down a flat stretch.

Balt tells Norman he feels old after doing that and is sore. Norman says it felt like you’re out of a cage having that much room to ride. Anya and Ashmore are part of Babes Ride Out, a women’s biker collective. Their motto is no ‘tude, no dudes.

They said that girls came over for their first ride and now they have 1200 riding and they’re going to the Catskills and the UK soon. They talk about Artist’s Drive and Dante’s View for tomorrow. The girls tease them about riding matching bikes and Balt says they’re lame.

We see Balt and Norman playing horseshoes at the barbecue place from before. They both suck and Norman says the game is harder than it looks. The guys head out from Furnace Creek, CA. Norman says Death Valley gets a bad rap.

He says waking up there, you realize how far from truth that is. Ellis, Violet and Anya meet them in the morning. They talk about Artists Drive. Nina and Ellis have Harleys and Anya has a Triumph. They load up and ride out.

They talk about Furnace Creek being the hottest place on earth. They’re heading for Dante’s View atop a mountain. They are now in Artists Drive with ash deposits that color the hills from the volcanos of eons gone by. It’s 100 feet below sea level there.

They pull over to enjoy the view. Norman talks about how he loves cities and the solitude you can enjoy in a large crowd but says the solitude here is crushing. In Death Valley, they head up 5,000 feet into the mountains.

Norman says the view overlooks the salt flat basin almost 300 feet below sea level and the lowest place in North America. Norman says it’s one of the prettiest things he’s ever seen. Balt says the did zombie burlesque to the top of the mountain.

Norman admits he’s never been to the desert and is mostly in New York. Balt complains and says this was his idea and the girls are taking credit. They build a campfire to fight off the chill. Balt puts on his hand warmers.

They light a fire and sit down with some beers. Norman says riding through the desert is something he won’t forget. He says the scale of this landscape is amazing.

THE END!
