The Blacklist Season 3 spoilers tease that in Episode 20, The Artax Network, Elizabeth Keen’s (Megan Boone) friends and family will gather for her funeral. Blacklist spoilers photos have shown Agent Ressler and her former co-workers carrying Keen’s coffin and gathering at the cemetery for her funeral.
However, fans are not completely convinced that Elizabeth Keen is really dead and that Megan Boon is permanently off the canvas. And, NBC still has not confirmed that Megan has left the show.
A popular theory among Blacklist fans was that Raymond Reddington (James Spader) had faked Elizabeth Keen’s death to protect her. However, after this week’s episode, “Cape May” – it is safe to say that is not the case.
Red was reeling from Liz’s death, and travelled to Cape May where he reminisced about meeting Elizabeth’s mother years ago – and even spoke out loud about failing to save Liz. If Elizabeth Keen is still alive, Raymond Reddington was apparently not brought into the elaborate scheme.
Elizabeth Keen’s portrayer Megan Boone just gave birth to her real life baby on April 15. It’s safe to say that the actress is taking a maternity leave – and won’t be filming any new episodes in the near future. It’s a very real possibility that Megan told TPTB that she wanted to leave the show for good so that she could be a stay at home mom and spend some quality time with the new addition to her family.
The Blacklist spoilers tease that there is a spinoff in the works, and Ryan Eggold will also be leaving the show in the near future and the Spring finale will serve as a pilot episode to his new spinoff. Obviously, Ryan’s character Tom Keen will be taking Elizabeth’s daughter Agnes with him – which only further seems to point to Megan Boone not returning.
If her husband and her daughter are no longer a part of The Blacklist, why would they need Elizabeth Keen?
Of course, that doesn’t completely rule out Elizabeth’s death being faked. But, it does raise more questions than answers. We learned in the “Cape May” episode that Elizabeth Keen’s mother was a bit of a bad-ass, and basically a female version of Raymond Reddington.
Is it possible that she decided Red was doing a horrible job of protecting her daughter and decided to take matters in to her own hands and fake Elizabeth’s death to save her? A popular theory among Blacklist fans is that Mr. Kaplan (Susan Blommaert) was serving as an accomplice for Elizabeth’s mother – and seeing as how she was the last person to be seen with Liz’s body, that’s not too far-fetched.
