The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Lauren’s (Tracey Bregman) business problems will result in a renewed opportunity for Phack. Just when it seemed like Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Jack (Peter Bergman) had kissed each other off, a storyline switch will upend expectations. Jabot’s acquisition of Fenmore’s may unexpectedly reopen the love door.
Sally Sussman and her team sent many clear signals during a debut week of shows, which came after Chuck Pratt’s reign ended. There’s clearly a renewed focus on long-standing characters. Bregman joined the cast in 1984, which was during the era of Y&R’s co-founder Bill Bell’s legendary run.
The restoration of daytime’s seemingly last impactful soap opera is a major undertaking for the newest head writer. But Sussman’s resume and bravado appear to indicate that she’s up for the job. First blush of this hire looks appealing.
As a legacy character Jack will remain front and center. But he’ll be written back into more acceptable storyline territory. His recent fallout with Phyllis not withstanding, an intriguing character remix will now add Lauren into the Phack mix.
A recent scene at the Genoa City Athletic Club showed Jack kissing Phyllis on the lips, which appeared to end that super couple’s time together. However, Lauren recently asked Phyllis for her input regarding Fenmore’s online presence. That request made the audience feel compassion for Mrs. Baldwin, whose business was struggling because she obviously hadn’t stayed in touch with the modern digital marketplace.
Phyllis forced Ashley (Eileen Davidson) to focus on modern times while working under Jack’s thumb from her closet office. Phyllis’ moxie subsequently spurned the interactive and instantly successful Jabot Go app. It therefore makes sense that the player (Red) central to this emerging digital beauty story will serve as a major draw in helping to convince Lauren to merge with the company Jack leads.
As part of an overall effort to tap into history, Lauren linked her business efforts to the company (Fenmore’s) that her father founded. Those moments are gifts to long-standing viewers who know Genoa City’s history and want to see it honored.
Many devoted fans can only wonder, probably forever, if Lauren’s evil nemesis will also be resurrected? Maybe Sheila (most famously played by Kimberlin Brown) will make contact with Lauren through a live chat that promotes Fenmore’s move under Jabot’s corporate umbrella? To a more realistic presumption, Phack fans are surely hoping that each soul mate can find a way home.
