The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Gabriel Bingham will be revealed as Christian’s (Jamie and Alister Tobias) father. Previous information that Sage (Kelly Sullivan) provided to Adam (most recently played by Justin Hartley) will be proven wrong.
Of course this also means that the man (Gabriel) assumed to be dead for nearly three years has been alive all along. The Young and the Restless spoilers indicate that Hartley will play him during an upcoming hiatus from NBC’s This Is Us filming schedule.
The above Y&R spoilers were a lot to mentally digest within only four sentences. So, take a deep breath and then exhale slowly. Repeat that process a few more times. Being connected to Genoa City can be overwhelming, but is manageable as long as viewers don’t voluntarily check into Fairview.
Putting oneself in the proper mental state, it’s time to review: Hartley was hired to replace Michael Muhney more than two years ago. After the new face of Adam Newman was shown, viewers came to learn that he looked just like Gabriel, who was Sage’s friend and Constance Bingham’s (Sally Kellerman) grandson.
The Young and the Restless spoilers make a long story short: Sage helped Adam to reclaim his old life under the guise of being Gabe. Adam was eventually outed as himself, later escaped prison after having his sentenced in the Delia (Sophie Pollono) case commuted through Victor’s (Eric Braeden) dirty dealings and seemed set to finally live freely. Of course, he didn’t.
Victor’s thirst for revenge resulted from his own four-month stay behind bars. The Moustache subsequently framed Adam for the murder of Constance, using Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) as his eager partner in crime. Victor later relented and helped Adam to escape imprisonment, but Chloe shot him with a dart gun. Then, the cabin where he was staying exploded. Okay, so how does all of this make Gabe the father of Christian?
Well, Sage claimed that Gabe died trying to rescue Adam in 2014. She genuinely believed that her friend perished, but he didn’t. The Young and the Restless spoilers claim Gabe Bingham survived and reconnected with Sage during the time that she was separated from Nick (Joshua Morrow). She was also romantically linked to Adam during that same period and told no one.
Yes, it’s a weird scenario that has some typical holes that soap writers often leave in stroylines. But Justin Hartley needs to return to Y&R and this is an interesting twist on how he can do so and the Y&R writers can fill in the gaps as needed.
Adam is dead, but Gabe lived. A DNA test confirms that Gabe is Christian’s father, not Adam or Nick. A limited return would make sense as well because Gabe isn’t a key character.
